Let us see your casse-role

November happens to be National Inspirational Role Models Month and in the spirit of Snoop, we want to thank us for believing in us and for doing all this hard work. Damn, it feels good to be appreciated. We wanna know: Who inspires you to keep reaching for another glass of wine better?

Forward this to your second favorite role model.

We wanna sax you up

Dick Clark once said, "Music is the soundtrack of your life." This week, we're stacking ours with male singer/songwriters from the over 70 club, plus a little brass, symphony and metal for good measure. Because our soundtrack should suit who we are: ridiculously moody old souls.

  • What's black and white and red all over? The piano at Lewis & Elm will be if we get too close with our glass of cab. Tomorrow night, from 7-9:30 p.m., find jazz pianist and GSO native Sam Fribush tickling the ivories while you drink the whites – and reds.
  • If you like your jazz a little spicy, check out Latin band Mistura 2-4:30 p.m. Sunday, November 21, at Lewis & Elm. They put the boss in bossa nova.
  • Catch Sting perform with the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra at the Tanger Center on November 20 & 21. Every breath you take, you'll be watching him. And if you can't make it, you can spy him in episode four of our fav show, Only Murders in the Building.
  • In our minds, we're going to the Coliseum to see James Taylor with special guest Jackson Browne at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 19. If you've got a spare ticket, you've got a friend – right here!
  • Looking for metal that's a bit heavier than brass? In This Moment will be rocking Piedmont Hall at 6:15 p.m. on November 17. Bang head here.
  • Head to the Virginia Somerville Sutton Theatre at Well-Spring for a free Opus concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, November 21. We hear Phil Harmonia will be there. Not sure who he is, TBH, but we like how he sounds.

Which brings us to our next High Point

This week, the High Point Museum offers three unique activities to transport you back in time. No DeLorean needed.

  • At 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 17, go riflin' through their business with Greensboro-native Michael Briggs as he discusses the Davidson School’s longrifle makers.
  • Arti-fact or fiction? On Thursday, November 18, from 10 a.m. to noon, drop in to "A" is for Artifact with your little one. The letter of the day will be "T" – for tired as a mother.
  • On Saturday, November 20, stop by for an open hearth cooking demo in the Hoggatt House, not to be confused with Hogwarts. Although our culinary skills could certainly use a little magic.

Stay toes-ty

From 7:30-10 p.m. Friday, November 19, and Saturday, November 20, UNCG's School of Dance performs original works choreographed by BFA senior students. See ya later, Twerkulator.

Prints charming

Tonight at 8 p.m., join Nozomi Naoi, assistant professor of art history at Yale-NUS, in a virtual discussion surrounding The Women of Shin Hanga. This Japanese art movement brought modernism to traditional block-printing, giving it the ultimate glow-up.

PHOTO VIA MERRY MERRY MARKET

It's the most artisanal time of the year

When you care enough to give handmade, but your own craft skills are that of an impatient toddler hopped up on pecan pie and chocolate turkeys, these artisan holiday markets have you covered:

  • The Merry Merry Market is back in person at Revolution Mill from 9 a.m.-8 p.m Wednesday, November 17. It's open all day so you can support your shopping habit while supporting local makers, artists and small businesses. Have yourself a merry merry little Christmas.
  • From 2-6 p.m. Thursday, November 18, The Archdale Farmers Market at Creekside Park welcomes you to their special Holiday Market. Find goods for gifting, gathering or – our second fav holiday activity – grazing. (Guzzling has the top slot.)
  • Take a little sleigh ride out to the Stokesdale Marketplace this weekend for its Holiday Market where you'll find artisan and vintage goods, plus food and photo-ops. #letustakeanelfie
  • Summerfield Farms hosts a Holiday Sip & Shop from 1-4 p.m on Sunday, November 21. Ten pop-up shops, one food truck, countless live holiday tunes and beverages. Let's get into those holiday spirits.

Horse-drawn Über

Stop scrolling, start strolling. This Friday night, from 5-8 p.m., enjoy carriage rides, carolers, cookies and cocoa as you take in the beautiful decorations and peruse the shops at the Reynolda Village Holiday Stroll in Winston-Salem. We hear there's a surprise guest who "always wears red." Could it be – DeMar DeRozan!? We know him!

Jingle Belle

At 10 a.m. this Saturday, Princess Belle invites your littlest elves (ages 5 and younger) to an interactive holiday-themed story time at Summerfield Farms, including pony rides and face or arm paint. Pony up before you go – spaces are limited.

We're sexy and we throw it

Take part in Greensboro Parks & Rec's first ever Turkey Toss Cornhole Tournament – aka cornament – at Keeley Park at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 20. This a-maize-ing event is family-friendly and open to all ages, from little kernel to the oldest pop-pop.

Tribe-ulent times

The North Carolina Museum of History hosts their 26th Annual American Indian Heritage Celebration in a free, online-only format from 11 a.m.-4 p.m on Saturday, November 20. Members of NC's eight recognized tribes will engage in panels, presentations and demonstrations celebrating the culture of the state's OGs.

Powwow-wow, yippie-yo, yippie-yay

At 7 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, the Greensboro Public Library Foundation presents best-selling author Tommy Orange at the Coliseum. He'll discuss his acclaimed debut novel There There, which follows 12 modern-day Native Americans as they travel to the Big Oakland Powwow-wow.

Here's looking at you, kid

Tonight at 7 p.m., the Carolina Theatre shows the classic film Casablanca. Meet us there – it could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. And if not, we'll always have Greensboro.

Gingerbread running squad

Run, run, run as fast as you can this Saturday in the Greensboro Half Marathon and 5k. We'll be waiting at the finish line, munching on cookies. Gingerbread men, of course.

ACTUAL FOOTAGE OF O.HEY STAFFER WRAPPING

That's a wrap

The season of gifting – and gift wrapping – is almost here. Once upon a time, an O.Hey staffer worked for Williams-Sonoma and was assigned the gift-wrapping station. She wrapped with heart, but with zero skill and was quickly demoted. To this day, she only uses gift bag because the sight of wrapping paper fills her with dread. It's her own waking Nightmare Before Christmas. How about you? Team paper or team bag?
