MORE THAN A BATH

Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  - Matthew 28:19

Church family, last week we had the honor of baptizing one of the children in our congregation.  What a great time of celebration over what God is doing.  In fact, we are having a baptism this Sunday, as well!  With all this baptizing going on, I wanted to take a moment and remind you how important baptism is.  no, it doesn't wash away sin.  No, it doesn't earn us salvation.  No, it doesn't make us better than someone else.  So why be baptized, anyway?  I'm so glad you asked.

  1. Jesus was baptized.  Matthew chapter 3 records this great event.  When we are baptized, we identify with Jesus.
  2. Jesus wants His followers to be baptized.  The Great Commission in Matthew 28 instructs the Church to baptize His followers.  If you are a Christian then being baptized is a matter of obedience.  This act declares our allegiance to Christ as Lord.
  3. The Church of Jesus has been baptized.  When we are baptized, we identify with others in the family of God who have also been baptized.  We have a family.
  4. The message of Jesus is proclaimed.  The picture of baptism is a picture of the saving Gospel of Jesus.  Baptism illustrates the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus which saves our souls.  This gift is available to all who will come to Him.

You see, baptism is so much more than a quick bath.  Have you been baptized?  If you are a follower of Jesus I hope you would prayerfully consider it.  Give me a call and we can talk about it.

Wednesday Nights at Pine Valley

Wednesday Night Suppers have resumed! Join us each Wednesday evening between 5:00-6:15 in the Fellowship Hall for dinner.  A $5 donation is suggested to cover the cost of the meal.

Kids

MDWK (Midweek) is our school year program that runs September - May.  This ministry is designed with the entire family in mind.  Each week, our kids (3 years-5th grade) spend time hearing a Bible lesson, practicing Bible skills, learning about missions through activities, and interacting with friends during game time.

The nursery is open to kids 2 and under during MDWK.  This is a place for our youngest attenders to have fun and begin to discover God's love for them as they are cared for by our volunteers.

Youth
Youth Illuminate (grades 6-12) meets each Wednesday night in the Youth House from 6:30-8:00pm!  Join us each week for a fun time of worship through music and a Bible lesson.

Adults
Adults of all ages are invited to our Adult Bible Study Prayer Meetings on Wednesday nights at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall!  Join us right after Wednesday night suppers for our weekly Bible study with Pastor Bryan.

Adult Choir Rehearsal
Choir practice meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30 in the sanctuary.  The choir will start singing on Sunday mornings this fall and we would love for you to join us!  If you have any questions, please contact Scott York.
If you would like to place flowers on the altar in memory or honor of a loved one, please call the office or contact Marilyn Watkins.
