GRANTS AND PROJECTS
More than 20% of the PTSO budget is used to support Grants and Projects. The Grants and Projects program provides financial support to innovative projects and academic enrichment initiatives that are not funded through the ordinary school budget and where alternative sources of funding are not reasonably accessible. Through the generosity of our parent community, the PTSO has been able to provide full or partial funding to the majority of applicants each year.

Here's an example of a grant which was made earlier this fall:
Due to Covid restrictions, the College & Career Center has not been able to host the annual in-person college nights at North. Instead, they've been hosting virtual visits with college representatives during every WIN block (October-December) in the Auditorium and Film Lecture Hall. More than 65 college representatives will "visit" North this fall virtually. In order to accommodate all of these Zoom visits and strong interest from students, the College & Career Center needed a large screen television (mounting & installation) to host visits in the Center. To support this important effort, a grant from the PTSO was made earlier this fall. Since installation, many Juniors and Seniors have taken part in virtual visits in the College & Career Center. While Covid restrictions made this request time-sensitive, the television in the Center will be used for years to come.

PTSO AT-LARGE METCO REP
At the October 26 PTSO Board meeting, Linda Barros was nominated by the Board to serve as one of the two PTSO ‘At-Large’ METCO representatives. The membership will vote on the nomination at the December 7 Board meeting. As always, the PTSO Board meetings are open to the entire membership, and we encourage you to participate.
