Letter From The Editor
Happy holidays from everyone here at the Kent County Democratic Party! We hope 2021 has been a great year for you, as it has certainly been an exciting year to be a Kent County Democrat. Among other things, 2021 saw a generally successful redistricting campaign, a landmark infrastructure bill signed by President Biden (more on that later), and Biden's withdrawal of all troops from Afghanistan, marking the end of a 20 year war.

As 2021 winds to a close, I think there are genuine reasons for optimism. Yes, Republicans are galvanized by their losses and by President Trump's rhetoric, but that extremism has also brought many moderate people into our party, and we welcome them gladly. For the first time we have the opportunity to have more equitable representation in our state with a legitimate chance to take the state legislature, a position we haven't been in for over 30 years. And as the striking workers in Battle Creek and many other places have demonstrated, people are remembering the power of organizing and standing together against rampant corporate greed and predation. While we will have our challenges and setbacks in 2022, as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. often said, “The moral arc of the universe is long, but it bends toward justice."
