Dear friends of the CGIAR Platform for Big Data in Agriculture,
It is heartening to see so many excellent initiatives coalescing efforts around climate change mitigation goals at COP26, and to see so many CGIAR colleagues helping drive mission-driven action and innovation. It can nevertheless be a challenge to build the right linkages, balance stakeholder needs, and accelerate promising solutions on a path to scale.
The Platform team is pleased to say that we have helped build a coalition that we feel helps address this challenge, specifically through leveraging data and digital technologies as critical enablers. Through distilling some actionable and inclusive collaboration principles, we are enabling the kind of technical collaboration across public, private, and non-profit spheres that will be necessary to effect the changes needed to drive food systems towards more favorable potential futures for humanity and the planet.
I’d like to invite you to join the online session Data & Digital Revolution for Food Systems to learn more and co-create this approach with us.
The event is part of the Affiliate Programme of Forum COP26 Live, a series of physical and virtual sessions engaging business leaders, policy makers, and the public through dialogues, announcements, podcasts, and social media campaigns - promoted by the World Economic Forum alongside COP26.
The session Data & Digital Revolution for Food Systems emerges from the work of the UN Food Systems Summit Innovation Lever of Change and will present the ‘Global Coalition for Digital Food Systems Innovation’—read more here.
Yours in Data,
Brian King
