Outreach and Extension Resources for Labs

The NPDN Outreach and Extension Committee has implemented a new tab in the NPDN Member Menu, called Lab Outreach Resources:

https://www.npdn.org/outreach_resources

Outreach education and extension activities are often key day-to-day responsibilities of our NPDN lab members. They also are important to the NPDN mission, as they contribute to our joint mission of protecting plant health through effective communication and quality diagnostics. The Outreach and Extension Committee seeks to support these activities by providing resources to reduce the burden associated with information gathering and dissemination.

Announcements

HLB 2022 Proficiency Test Season

The 2022 Proficiency Test (PT) panel for huanglongbing, also known as citrus greening, is ready for release. Distribution of the HLB 2022 PT will occur starting October 18, 2021, and will proceed through January 2022. Diagnosticians passing the HLB 2022 PT are certified to conduct molecular identification of the pathogen causing citrus greening, a significant threat to the U.S. citrus industry. Laboratory accreditation by NPPLAP and annual certification of diagnosticians are required to participate in the USDA regulatory testing program for HLB. Find forms and more information on the NPDN web portal (login required).

Call for New Members

The NPDN Online Communication and Web Portal Committee is looking for new members to bolster our ranks in anticipation of the retirements of a pathologist and an entomologist. The NPDN Web Portal is the public face of NPDN and an important communication tool for NPDN members, partners, and stakeholders. This committee serves as the long-term curator of NPDN web portal content to ensure clear online communication with members and stakeholders. Learn more about the committee from our committee web page (login required).
