Opening This Weekend: Once Upon A Time 

The Primetime Festival, the online performance festival featuring interactive digital experiences from across the country, has seen enthusiastic audiences embracing the compelling online offerings from these festival artists.

The much-anticipated opening night of Once Upon A Time - An African Theatrical Storytelling Production will take place this week! On Friday, November 12, Primetime audiences will finally experience mesmerizing storytelling, music, and projections from internationally celebrated artist Jacqui Du Toit.

Jacqui Du Toit is known for animating stories from her motherland of South Africa. Join us as this acclaimed artist takes you on a journey into imagination and beyond. Opens November 12 at 8pm

Get To Know gather.town:

Power-up for Primetime and join us online! Primetime is hosting the festival lobby space and live shows in a colourful and cool digital platform called gather.town.

When you first enter Primetime Festival in gather.town, type the name that matches your ticket confirmation, then you can create your very own avatar, the digital character that represents you in this space with a 8-bit video game vibe. You can then use your arrow keys to move around, interact with others, and find the surprises built into this digital world. Most importantly - press Z to make your avatar dance!

You'll find all the gather.town details you need when you purchase your Primetime tickets and passes. Primetime is on now until November 28, 2021!

All live shows are Pay What You Can. Audiences can select from the following prices for their tickets: $5, $15, $25, $50, $100. With Love and a Major Organ (The Audio Play) is $10 to stream on-demand.

Recommender Grants for Theatre Creators banner

Recommender Grants Deadline:


Toronto Fringe is a recommender organization with the Ontario Arts Council. Recommenders are organizations authorized by Ontario Arts Council to receive applications, review them and make grant recommendations. The Toronto Fringe has $10,000 to disperse in 2021 to fund individuals or ad hoc collectives of artists for the development of new theatrical work. You can request between $1,000 and $3,000 for your project.

Deadline for submissions is Friday, November 12, 2021!
