This year we have received record-breaking 140 applications for Tertiary Education Scholarship, and we have interviewed more than 40 shortlisted candidates during 8th to 10th Oct. Thanks to our donors and volunteers for being panelists even during signal 8 typhoon, 27 students were eventually selected from candidates of high standards. The awardees will not only awarded $15000 but will also attend a series of training and volunteer activities throughout the year. The opening ceremony will be held on next Saturday 13th Nov, 2021.

今年我們收到的獎學金申請高達140份，而我們亦已於十月八日至十日面試了超過四十位同學。感謝捐款人和義工們為我們擔任評審，即使是八號風球也如期進行了是次面試，攪盡腦汁終於在一眾高水平同學中選出了二十七位，成為今年度獎學金的得獎者。得獎同學除了可得到一萬五千元的獎學金外，還會在未來一年參加一系列訓練和義工活動；而獎學金的開幕禮亦將於十一月十三日舉行。

On 28 Oct, Unison was invited to share the experience of promoting cultural inclusion and the essence of services designed for ethnic minorities at the i-Care Centre in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The theme of the sharing is “Harmony in Diversity – Insights Obtained from Promoting Cultural Inclusion”. Students were participative and we had an interesting discussion.  

 

在十月二十八日，融樂會獲香港中文大學博群全人發展中心邀請，分享推動文化共融的經驗，及設計少數族裔服務的要點。演講主題為「和而不同—推動文化共融的啟示」，同學反應踴躍，討論氣氛熾熱。
 

Unison was invited as a panelist of the after screening discussion at a short-film screening- Melting Pot by Bipin Karma. It is under All about us film festival organized by IFVA. The film, written & directed by a Nepalese Hongkonger, shows us the life of ethnic minority youth and delves into topics such as mental health, school climate and peer relationship. 

Unison held two career workshops at Delia Hip Wo in October. The students got to chat with people from different professions about their job, their life journey, their career planning etc. Our volunteer professionals got a chance to meet local EM students and help give them advice on how to plan their own career pathway. Students were very active and asked a lot of great questions.

十月，融樂會在地利亞修女紀念學校（協和）舉辦了兩個職涯規劃工作坊。學生可以親身與來自不同行業的人士討論專業、成長故事、職涯規劃等。我們的義工也能認識本地少數族裔同學，給予他們生涯規劃的意見。同學皆踴躍提問。 
 

On Nov 4, our communication officer Pete Cheng was invited to be a guest speaker of a lecture class at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. The theme was “The Status of Ethnic Minorities in Hong Kong”. Pete shared the difficulties and the daily racial discrimination that local ethnic minorities encounter with the audiences.
 
在十一月一日，融樂會傳訊主任Pete應邀擔任香港都會大學的課堂客席講者，講題為「香港少數族裔的處境」。席上，他分享了本地少數族裔會遇上的困難，及日常的種族歧視。

Our communication officer, Pete, had been nominated and selected to join the 2021 American Express Leadership Academy in Hong Kong. This one-week leadership programme was organized by American Express and Common Purpose, which aims to address the leadership development needs of the not-for-profit sector through various means, including workshops, keynote presentations and executive coaching. 
 
本會同事Pete獲提名參與2019 美國運通領袖訓練學院。這一星期的領袖訓練活動由美國運通及Common Purpose舉辦，旨在透過不同的形式，包括工作坊，重點演講及一對一指導，支援非牟利團體的領袖發展。
