Did you know a donation made to Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) makes it possible for us to provide FREE civil legal services to:

PROTECT survivors of domestic violence;

KEEP families together and strong;

STABILIZE families’ housing situations;

DEFEND seniors against losing their benefits;

SERVE VETERANS and military families on the home front; and

SUPPORT THE RIGHTS of the disabled.

In 2020, close to 45% of our work agency-wide was related to housing. Our eviction and foreclosure prevention staff impacted over 12,000 household members including children.

We cannot do it without you!

As we head toward year end, and the looming end of the eviction moratorium, we need your support more than ever. There are tens of thousands of people living in the Hudson Valley today that are facing eviction or home foreclosure through no fault of their own! They are domestic violence survivors, veterans, senior citizens, individuals with disabilities, and parents. 70% of them are women… 40% of those impacted by those evictions and foreclosures will be children.

With your support, our attorneys and paralegals will be here for them when they need help, providing legal advice, counsel, and representation.

That’s why, as we head into the holiday season, we ask that you give the gift of legal services to a family who can’t afford to fight for their basic human rights alone. Your support could mean the difference for so many in our community!

Happy Holidays,

Rachel C. Halperin, Chief Executive Officer

P.S. Every dollar raised this season supports the thousands of community residents in crisis and seeking legal help.

Your gift of $50 allows a single mom to preserve her food stamps and feed her children.

Your Gift of $100 defends a veteran’s right to benefits they earned.

Your Gift of $250 provides a senior with end-of-life planning documents.

Your gift of $500 protects a victim of domestic violence from becoming homeless.

Yes! I want to give the gift of legal services this holiday season so a family who can’t afford to fight for their basic rights is not alone.

Our offices will be closed Thursday, 11/25 & Friday, 11/26.
