How long has it been since we had the opportunity to meet hundreds of students from all over Switzerland? To meet them in person and to make new friends from different cities? To learn new facts and to gather new knowledge in the afternoon, and to celebrate it together in the evening? Thanks to the SMSC Lausanne 2021, we all finally could enjoy these amenities again after waiting for it for almost two years. Therefore, we want to say thank you to the amazing organising committee of the SMSC Lausanne 2021 for making this unforgettable SMSC possible! The upcoming SMSC, which will take place in Lugano in April 2022, is already being prepared. SMSC Lugano 2022 - Let’s not just live but live consciously!
“Being present”, “environmental awareness”, “GCS of 15” and many others, were the answers we received when we asked people what came to their mind about the topic of the upcoming SMSC.
From 8th to 10th April 2022 the SMSC will take place for the very first time in Switzerland’s “Sonnenstube”, in Lugano. The aim is to have an SMSC in person and where better to enjoy a “gelato” after the presentations than on the sunny side of Switzerland. 😉
Our goal is to raise awareness, not only about “typical” medical topics such as neurology, but also on many others that you may never have associated with medicine. Climate change, body awareness, conscious approaches to diagnostics and therapeutics and much more, are important topics for us as future doctors.
The organising committee is already working hard to make this SMSC an unforgettable experience for everybody. We can’t wait to welcome you to Lugano.

The mental health of students has suffered significantly during the pandemic. But even before Covid-19 students have been a particularly vulnerable group in regard to mental health. For this reason, the Student Minds Project was founded. The goal of this national project is to protect students’ mental health, to destigmatize mental health issues at universities and to create more awareness.
To achieve this goal, we need your help! We need data to show us what exactly the problems are. By filling out this survey you can directly support the project and help create a supportive environment at universities for mental health.

swimsa signed the #HealthyClimate Prescription letter
Since the release of our Policy Paper (german / french) on Climate Change and Health in 2019, swimsa has been speaking up against climate change and informing the public about the effects it can have on our health. This month, swimsa joined more than 400 organizations and thousands of individuals in signing the #HealthyClimate Prescription Letter.
In the letter, health professionals around the world urge governments to live up to their responsibilities by protecting their citizens, neighbours, and future generations from the climate crisis, and update their national climate commitments under the Paris Agreement, in line with their fair share of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. We call for urgent climate action to protect people’s health!

The Swiss Medical Students’ Association is the umbrella organisation for all Swiss med students. Her members are all the 7 Fachschaften/associations and projects like Achtung Liebe, marrow, METIS, Teddybärspital etc. Twice per year, she organises the SMSC (= Swiss Medical Students’ Conference) with students from all parts of Switzerland. The International Federation of Medical Students' Associations is the umbrella organisation for all the national associations of more than 120 different countries worldwide!
