Hi Gorgeous,

I thought when I became a mom my body image issues would disappear, like POOF. In my head it made perfect sense; my kids would be watching me, so naturally I'd watch myself and I wouldn't pass on my insecurities. I'd magically accept myself as I was and that would be the end of that.

And... It didn't work that way.

I still had all the same insecurities except now I had one, and then a couple years later, two, little pair of eyes watching me. They watched me try on a dozen outfits before I found one I didn't hate. They watched me enter every calorie and bite into My Fitness Pal. They watched me weigh and measure my food and eat the weirdest combinations of foods that fit my macros, aka "Flexible dieting." (I'm looking at you, bowl of edamame, spinach, and 7/8 of a medium banana! )

Changing the way I think about my body, food, and exercise took more than just a desire to change. It took work. It took self-exploration. And on a daily basis, I still have to challenge the diet culture paradigm that wormed it's way into my consciousness over years of just... living in this fatphobic world. Loving myself and eating and moving intuitively require a daily practice of noticing my thoughts and changing the ones that don't serve me.

Yes, I'm doing it partially to model a healthy relationship with food and my body for my daughters. Also, it just feels better to show up in integrity with my values to every meal, every snack, and every day.

If you’re ready to change your relationship with movement, food, and your body, I can help. I have a couple of coaching slots opening up in the new year. Click here to learn more.
