Monthly Meeting on the Proposed Voter Protection Laws and How We Can Help

Save the date for our next  monthly Zoom meeting on Tuesday, November 16 at 7-8 PM when experts with Common Cause will discuss substance, process, and ways we can help ensure passage of proposed federal voter protections laws. More details to follow concerning our speakers. Pre-register for the meeting here.

Write Postcards for New Hampshire

Friday, November 5 at 4-5 PM is our last outdoor Action Hour. It has been chilly, but we intrepid New Englanders can handle one more week before it is too cold! We’re writing to newly eligible NH voters to help ensure that they are registered and encourage others to register so that they are ready to vote in the critical Senate, Gubernatorial and other critical NH races. We gather at the same location each week. If you need the address, please respond to this email.

You also can pick up packets of 50 postcards to write and mail on your own by November 30. We’ll provide the postcards, addresses and scripts, and you provide the postcard stamps. There is no charge for the postcards. Complete this form if you would like to participate and we’ll notify you with the most convenient pick up location.

          Combat Political Disinformation

The proliferation of political lies is threatening democracy and creating discord concerning critical issues like voting information, election results, and the impact of voter protection laws.   These lies spread like wildfire on social media, with volunteers helping to combat them in two ways:

  • Identifying sources of disinformation and reporting them to Common Cause.

  • Creating and sharing positive counter narratives with the Truth Brigade.

Please join us at a weekly Action Hour to learn about these tactics and get to work combating the lies. We train participants on posting with the Truth Brigade and monitoring social media with Common Cause -- you can choose to try one or both activities. If you already are trained, please join us to work together, share pointers, and enjoy the company. Register here for our sessions on Wednesdays at 11AM or 5PM.

Persistence Happy Hour is back at Loretta

Persistence Happy Hour is back at our favorite place, Loretta! Come join your fellow Indivisible-RISE members on Friday, November 12th from 5:30 - 6:30pm. This is always a great time to share recent triumphs, harrowing weather stories or just plain old political strategies. While an RSVP is not necessary, if you do plan to attend, it would be great if you would respond to this newsletter so that we can have a rough estimate of attendees.

Deadlines are Looming to Help Virginia

It is down to the wire for these critical statewide races which will set the tone and expectations for the 2022 midterms!

Our last chance to help is to make calls during these final few days:

-- Call Democrats whose mail in ballots need to be cured, typically because of a simple issue like missing a signature or address. These are calls to friendly and appreciative voters, and calling is through Nov 5, Click here for information and to register.

-- Just one more day to call voters in communities of color to help get out the vote. Register here to make calls on your own schedule.

Protecting the Vote Is Top Priority

Elected officials are heading home for November 8 - 13, which is a great time for us to encourage people in critical states to  contact (or visit) their Senators and impress upon them the critical need to reform the filibuster and pass the Freedom to Vote Act. Register for a Common Cause phone bank here. Join us on Wednesday afternoons when I-RISE partners with Common Cause, or choose whatever days and times work for you.

It also is important to keep contacting the White House (202-456-1111 or by email) to urge President Biden to do everything in his power to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, including pressuring senators to reform the filibuster. Also let Senators Markey and Warren know you support the Freedom to Vote Act and ask them to keep pressing for its passage. Contact them at:

Senator Markey - 202-224-2742 or 617-565-8519 or by email

Senator Warren - 202-224-4543 or 617 565-3170 or by email
