Hello from Move To Heal South Dakota | November 2021

We've taken the slow down to speed back up approach the last couple of months. With that break to reflect, we are excited to share what's next for Move To Heal South Dakota.

In November, we are launching a twice weekly Community Class in partnership with Faith Lutheran Church, plus another opportunity to move through Active Generations Caregiver event, prepping for the upcoming Blue Heaven shows and announcing end of the year campaign goals.

Thanks again for subscribing and we hope you enjoy the latest updates!
Move Better Feel Better classes are FREE to the community thanks to our Location Sponsor: Faith Lutheran Church!

This community format is replacing our weekly chair yoga classes that were previously in senior living locations in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities. These classes are led by Move To Heal SD Lead Volunteer Instructors: Shelly, Jill and Maria.

We are looking to partner with active aging organizations and caregiver support organizations to increase attendance and provide this resource to adults with the goals of enhancing well-being and building community through movement. If you are connected to one of these types of organizations, please share this opportunity with them. Also, feel free to reach out to Sydney at movetohealsd@gmail.com with any questions.

We encourage adults across Sioux Falls to join for weekly Mindful Movement classes at Faith Lutheran Church (601 N Cliff Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57103) in Sioux Falls S.D.
MARK YOUR CALENDAR for an upcoming Caregiver Event on November 13 at Active Generations (2300 W. 46th St. 57105) in Sioux Falls, S.D. called Relax, Refresh, Recharge.

Active Generations and Caregiver Outreach are hosting an event from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. for our beloved caregivers. Relax, Refresh, Recharge is designed to offer a day of self-care for family caregivers who are affected by their loved one’s struggle with dementia, Parkinson’s, or any other chronic illness.

The event will consist of sessions offering various aspects of self-care. Move To Heal SD Lead Volunteer Instructor, Jill Fries will be leading Chair Yoga & Mindfulness from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. at the event.

SIOUX FALLS THRIVE PARTNERSHIP

We've partnered with the
Kid Link Riverside Program powered by Sioux Falls Thrive to offer kids movement, mindfulness and performing arts programming. This program is every Tuesday night from 5-6:30 p.m. CST at the Sermon on the Mount Mennonite Church (1512 E Mulberry St, Sioux Falls, SD 57103) in Sioux Falls, SD.

We are excited to serve up to 50+ school-age children each week with arts programming that they otherwise would not have access to.

Move To Heal South Dakota is working to be present at this program on a weekly basis in 2022.

We are raising funds to cover our program expenses and allow us to serve the Kid Link Riverside Program at no cost. The funds raised will primarily go to covering our
Lead Volunteer Instructors and Artists fees.

Our kids programming fundraising goal by the end of 2021 is: $5,000. Help us restore hope and joy through movement activities in the Riverside neighborhood. Donate today!
In case you missed this: Amy Fill created a performance called "Exquisite Cloud" with Vermillion-based band Fine Mess and Move To Heal SD got to be part of it!

Artist Bio
Amy Fill is a visual artist living in rural Volin, South Dakota. Her work includes painting, sculpture, installation and collaborative accessible art experiences utilizing sculptural props and movement to explore our interconnectedness to the natural world. Amy is the Founder and Director of the Rural Cloud Museum and Director of the University of South Dakota Art Galleries. She’s also a member of the Community Build Association and Cloud Appreciation Society.

As part of this exhibit, the artist created a performance called "Exquisite Cloud" with Vermillion-based band Fine Mess. The performance encourages audience participation in an imaginary and magical world where everything is soft and light, trees can float and humans can transform into butterflies.

Move To Heal South Dakota is looking forward to collaborating with Amy Fill to create Public Art Experiences that will debut in Spring 2022.
In expansion of our existing arts-based movement and mindfulness work, Move To Heal South Dakota is aiming to become the states premier wellness resource and professional development trainer.

Reaching our goal would equip more children with the social-emotional tools they need to cope through life experiences.

Help us transform lives to empower self-healing and create successful communities by donating to support our Professional Development programs today.

Our initial Professional Development Training goal is $20,000 and would allow us to reach 4 organizations to deliver our 3-hour training.
You can help us “get moving” with a gift today!
Are you excited for Experience Healing Arts 2022?

We are looking for volunteers to assist with the planning our 2022 events. Please reach out to movetohealevents@gmail.com to join this committee today!
