Choose your #AgVenture this National Agriculture Day!

November 19th is National Agriculture Day, an opportunity to celebrate all of the fabulous and fulfilling career opportunities on offer in agriculture.

Empowering people to further their education and progress their careers in agriculture is a core value of the NCFH. To help assist people looking to make a positive difference in their communities, we have a range of educational opportunities available.

One such program, our Gear Up for Ag Health and Safety, has returned following the lockdown lifts. This program engages students in a practical, fun and interactive way to provide teachings that promote health, wellbeing and safety.

You will explore what influences higher rates of morbidity and mortality in rural and remote Australia, and what influences successful health policies and safety intervention programs.

By understanding these issues, along with learning the impact of poor health on agribusiness, agricultural production and sustainability, you will be well placed to make a significant difference in Australia’s agricultural communities.

New Blog Post: Reaching farmers through their best (canine)mates, to talk about mental health

In some ways, Kelly is running a covert operation. Her dog training school, Mates Dog School, is a professional 6-month training course, but she also sneaks in discussions with farmers about resilience, stress management, fear of failure and suicide.

Kelly Barnes, winner of the 2020 Victorian AgriFutures Rural Woman of the Year award, spoke with our Campfire team about what led her to create Mate's Dog School and how it is benefitting her community in rural Victoria. She will also be joining the Campfire team for this Wednesday's Bonfire session, where she will be diving deeper into the topic.
