Getting grounded with the Basis of Union

Tomorrow begins a five-week online study series exploring new reflections on the Basis of Union designed to encourage conversation and reflection on the themes of the Act2 conversation about the future of the Uniting Church.

Members of the Assembly Resourcing Unit will lead the sessions that explore the series written by Rev Dr Geoff Thompson titled, Our Life Together: Reflections on the Basis of Union. Each reflection includes accompanying Bible passages and discussion questions. The sessions will be held every Thursday with the option of 10am or 7.30pm AEDT.

It is hoped going deeper into the Basis of Union, the foundational document guiding the life of the Uniting Church, will be one way for people to reconnect to, and be grounded in, our identity as they respond to the latest Act2 report and consider afresh our life together.

Reflecting on the Basis in language

Central to the DNA of the Uniting Church, is a celebration of, and commitment to live out our lives as both a multicultural and multilingual church. That is why we have begun translating the new Basis of Union studies into languages other than English used within the UCA. Hear more from Associate General Secretary Rob Floyd.

Exploring the Basis of Union: 50 years on

In another timely opportunity to explore the Basis of Union, Pilgrim Theological College is hosing an online day conference on Saturday 27 November, The Basis of Union at 50: It's Present and Future
UCA President Rev Sharon Hollis is chairing the conference which will turn its focus to how the Basis is lived out and understood in the Uniting Church today, especially among our culturally diverse communities and 'post-union' generations.

Heeding the groans of creation

As global talks on climate continue at COP26, UCA President Rev Sharon Hollis has encouraged the Australian Government to commit to further reductions in our emissions by 2030. Rev Hollis says Australia must go further and act sooner to protect the planet and its life. The President has offered a prayer for the COP26 meeting and those most impacted by climate change.

Opportunity to advise on Disability

The Uniting Church's National Task Group focused on the Disability Royal Commission is calling for nominations for a People with Disability Advisory Group. The Advisory Group will have up to 15 people with disability from the church and services network. For more information and to apply, see our website or email bethi@nat.unitingcare.org.au.
