Succulent  Wreath Workshop-13 November  

A wreath with a difference and for all seasons.  Learn how to make the latest "on trend" decoration from living succulent plants, and make your own living, growing wreath for Xmas. 

Payment of $75 is payable prior to the workshop. Places are limited – get in quickly!
Attendees to bring:
  • Variety of small succulent cuttings (approx. 30)
  • Secateurs and gardening gloves

 E-Waste Day- 6 November    


The Town is holding an E-Waste Day 6 November from 9-4pm.

Onsite data destruction and degaussing unit will also be available to residents.

Remember: Remove all soft plastics, packaging including polystyrene and cardboard (WMRC receive these free of charge.  Soft plastics can be taken to Redcycle outside Coles and Woolworths.  Please – no whitegoods!!
Things you can dispose of at an eWaste day:

Recycling Facility Tour: 11 November     


Have you ever wondered what happens at a Recycling Facility? Join us for a waste education workshop and tour of the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre this November for National Recycling Week!

The workshop will cover:
  • What waste goes in which bin?
  • The lifecycle of waste
  • Where to take the items that can't go in your household bin
On the tour you will get to see:
The FOGO Processing Facility, where FOGO material is pre-processed to remove contamination.
  • 🌱 The Green Waste Facility, where garden waste is turned into mulch.
  • ♻️ The Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), where recyclables are separated, baled and sold for reuse.
  • 🍎 The Education Centre, where there are lots more resources to help you to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The tour involves spending approximately 30 minutes walking outdoors on bush paths around the site.

A reasonable level of physical fitness is required. Kids (older than 6 years old) are welcome on the tour, they must be registered for own ticket and be accompanied by an adult. Closed footwear is essential for all. We strongly recommend you wear long pants, a hat, sunscreen and bring a water bottle.

STAIRS – Two separate staircases of approximately 40 STAIRS each. Platforms are located approximately every ten stairs (alternative options may be available – please contact the Waste Education Officer to discuss).

The cost of this event is $5 plus an Eventbrite booking free. The event will begin with a tour of the Canning Vale Centre, followed by morning tea and a workshop with an opportunity to have all your waste and recycling questions answered.

When: Saturday 11 November | 10:00 – 11:30am
Where: Admin building of the Resource Recovery Group Canning Vale Centre
Wear: Fully enclosed footwear, long pants, hat and sunscreen.

Wardrobe Refresh- Childrens-14 November


Join us for Cambridge's Kids Wardrobe Refresh!  Invite your friends and family so there are plenty of smaller children's sizes and styles for everyone to choose from.
  • Recycle the clothes, shoes and accessories that your children no longer love or fit
  • Enjoy picking out some beautiful new outfits for your children
  • Find some treasures
  • Relax, bring whatever you have, take whatever you like. No designer requirements here!
  • Everything left over is donated to charity
  • Save your money for experiences instead of wasting it on fast fashion
  • Help out the planet!
How does it work?
1. Clean out your wardrobe, drawers and storage.
2. Bring children’s, accessories, shoes and items.
3. Bring your items on hangers and place them on the racks according to their sizes and then browse the racks and take the items you'd like. You can come and go at any time you like between 11am and 1pm on the day.

All items that have not been swapped will be donated to local charities by the Town.

Join us for Cambridge's Adults Wardrobe Refresh and save your money for experiences instead of wasting it on fast fashion!

Invite your friends and family so there are plenty of sizes and styles for everyone to choose from. Recycle the clothes, shoes and accessories that you no longer love or fit, and enjoy picking out some beautiful new outfits. Relax, bring whatever you have: take whatever you like.

How does it work?

West Metro Recycling Centre Community Tour Facility- 25 November     


Join us for a guided tour of the West Metro Recycling Centre. See how the facility operates and have all of your waste and recycling questions answered!

Join us for a guided tour of the West Metro Recycling Centre. See how the facility operates and have all of your waste and recycling questions answered!

The West Metro Recycling Centre on Brockway Rd in Shenton Park services a population of 97,000 people across the western central metropolitan area.

The facility acts as a central transfer station for surrounding councils to efficiently transport their residual and green waste to processing facilities that are further away.

The facility provides comprehensive recycling and waste treatment services for our environmentally-conscious residents including cardboard, e-waste, bulk polystyrene, x-ray, white good, mattress and scrap metal recycling.

We'll also discuss other local recycling initatives that you can find in your community. Your tour will be followed by time for questions and light refreshments.

When: Thursday 25 November | 9:00 - 11:00

Cambridge Repair Lab-27 November      


Need something fixed? Come and learn some repairing skills and stop throwing good things away.

Repair Lab is a community initiative to help people fix their belongings and save things going to landfill. Skilled volunteers will help you with repairs of clothing, textiles, bikes, furniture, jewellery, electronics which run on batteries (below mains power), general household items.  If you're unsure, bring it down and we'll see what we can do!

Repair Lab is a free, family friendly community event for people to bring along their broken items to be fixed, with the help of our skilled volunteers.

When: Thursday 27 November | 10:30 – 12:30
Where: Town of Cambridge Administration Building
Cost: Free event.
