ETF AGM

Thanks for being part of it

ETF's AGM promised to be a memorable event and it certainly didn't disappoint.  Held online for the second year on Friday 29th October 2021, the AGM allowed ETF to reflect on what has been a very busy but productive year.  Here's a quick flavour of what happened on an action packed night for the Federation.

Firstly the meeting heard from our guest speaker Josh Quigley, who recently broke the Guiness World Record for cycling a distance of 2179.66 miles in seven days.  Josh's presentation was heartwarming, inspiring and very well received by everyone at the AGM.  Then delegates were given an overview of the work ETF has done over the year and an update was given on the Federation's finances.  ETF welcomed Terry Kirby to serve on the Federation's Executive Committee and the AGM finished with a light hearted quiz, which everyone enjoyed.

ETF's Convenor Betty Stone commented "We would like to thank everyone who attended our AGM on Friday 29th October.  Josh's presentation was simply inspiring and it's great that he is going into schools to teach young children about everything he's accomplished.  I look forward to working with Terry Kirby as part of the Federation's Executive Committee.  We are delighted with the positive feedback we've received from the AGM as it allowed ETF to reflect on what has been a particularly challenging, but rewarding year."

Update from ETF

Office closure and protecting staff and service users

Although restrictions are continuing to ease and the Norton Park Centre is now open, the Federation's Office remains closed.  This ensures the continued protection of both staff and service users.  ETF still continues to operate on a daily basis and staff can be contacted by clicking here or phone 0131 475 2509.

A further update will be provided on ETF's status very soon.  Watch this space for further details.

City of Edinburgh Council Rent Consultation

Help shape future housing services in Edinburgh

It's that time of year again, when the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) consults tenants on the proposed rents for 2022/23.  Tenants' rents pay for the services we receive, improvements to our homes and help CEC build new homes for rent across the city, so your views matter.

CEC is currently carrying out their rent consultation which runs until Wednesday 8th December 2021.  This is an ideal opportunity for tenants to help shape the future of housing in Edinburgh and ETF would encourage tenants to have their say.  This can be done in a number of ways:   ETF will be submitting a response to CEC's Rent Consultation and you will be able to read this in our next edition in December.

CEC Short Term Let Control Area Consultation
Earlier this year, the Scottish Government introduced laws which allow Councils in Scotland to designate all or part of their area as a Short-Term Let Control Area.  In Edinburgh Airbnb is regarded as one of the largest platforms for short-term letting.

CEC is currently carrying out a consultation to inform the decision on taking forward a Short-Term Let Control Area for formal designation until Friday 5th November 2021.   You can respond to the consultation: ETF will be submitting a response to the consultation and we would like to encourage as many people as possible do so likewise.  You can read a copy of ETF's response in our next edition in December.
