Natasha's Law

On 1 October 2021, 'Natasha's Law' came into force, requiring all food businesses to provide full ingredients labelling on food that has been pre-packed for direct sale. The new legislation is designed to better protect those with allergies and give them greater confidence in the food they buy.

Parishes are subject to the general law in relation to the sale and supply of food and drink. This includes complying with the Food Information (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2019 which add Natasha’s Law to the Food Information Regulations 2014.

Discipleship Training

We are now taking applications for our Discipleship Training Winter Term modules (start in January 2022). Each module consists of 10 sessions which are all online.

The modules are designed to help you grow your faith and develop the ministry to which God has called you (and we are all called to ministry of some kind!). There are no entry requirements, just a desire to grow in faith and some time to study and reflect.

The January 2022 modules are:
  • Everyday Faith - explores how God is calling you to live out your life of faith in the church and the world.
  • Mission and Evangelism - explores how we discern what God is doing in the world and how we get involved in that, as a church and as individuals.

CofE Readers Logo

Licensed Lay Ministry (Reader) Training (LLM(R))

Part of the Discipleship Training programme, the LLM(R) pathway starts again in January 2022. This two-year course is studied online. Additionally, you will need to attend nine Zoom study days each year and take part in practical ministry in your church (the course is run on an apprenticeship model).

There are no entry requirements apart from a valid DBS certificate, the support of your incumbent (or Area Dean in a Vacancy), and, by the second discernment year, the support of your PCC, a Vocations Advisor and the Warden of Readers.

Future of church buildings debate

The National Churches Trust has launched a national debate looking at The Future of the UK’s Church Buildings.

With an increasing number of churches and chapels facing closure,  the debate highlights the community, economic, heritage and spiritual benefits of churches.

This is a chance for churches to say how their local church can be saved for future generations.
