The VARB Team

This week we are marking the vital contribution that trustees make to our community and voluntary sector as part of Trustee Week.

There are over 2600 registered charities in Surrey and most of them are run by a board of volunteer trustees.  Trustees set the direction of the charity and are ultimately responsible for how an organisation is run and its success.

Becoming a trustee can be a rewarding and flexible way to volunteer and use your skills and experience to give back to your community. Evidence shows that having a diverse board brings new and vital perspectives and, while professional skills can be useful, your life experiences and ability to see the bigger picture are also essential trustee qualities. Local charities currently looking for trustees include: Age UK Surrey, Abbeyfield House in Reigate (Company Secretary and Trustee), Include.org (Chair and Trustee), Merstham Community Facility Trust (Treasurer),  Relate Mid Surrey, Surrey Drug and Alcohol Service (Chair and Trustee), and Victoria Almshouses
