The Latest News
This is the second day of the critical COP26 World Leaders Summit. Yesterday over 100 Heads of State and Government gathered to set the stage for the detailed negotiations that will unfold in the coming days. Key themes for discussion include reducing emissions and restoring vital habitats, to adapting to extreme weather events and increasing the provision of support to developing countries.

The Prime Minister addressed World Leaders at COP26, inviting them to show historic leadership and courage by getting real about the climate, and turning the tide against the current crisis.
COP26 People's Advocate Sir David Attenborough addressed world leaders at the COP26 Opening Ceremony.
If you are coming to COP26, you need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test taken and reported online on the same day that you plan to attend.

Green Zone Update
The Green Zone had a successful first day with three thousand visitors and over 100 journalists in attendance. Nicola Sturgeon and the Chief Rabbi came through to visit events and exhibitors. The YOUNGO event highlighted how youth-led climate action can have an impact. Maisie Williams did an Instagram Live with the UNFCCC and young activists.
Tuesday's highlights will include exhibits EcoSynagogue (a project of the Board of Deputies of British Jews), Save the Children International and Uma Gota no Oceano, along with events: The Farewell Glacier by Nick Drake and Fairtrade Farmers: Our Food and the Fight for Climate Justice.

What's Coming Up?

World Leaders Summit - Day 2 
2 November
Today, world leaders will give further national statements setting out the ambitious actions that they are taking domestically and internationally to accelerate urgent action this decade. There are leader events on action on forests and land use from 9:15-12:45 and on accelerating clean technology, innovation and development from 14:15-16:30.
