Thaings to do in spite of all that we can not do:

HELP!!!  AT THE HATCHERIES
I am out of volunteers!!!     And I need help now.
We need volunteers to help harvest fish at the Suquamish hatcheries at Gorst and Grovers' Creek from now until Thanksgiving.  It's fun and you might learn a little fish science.  If you're interested call or text Norm at 360.271.0519.   This is where the fish comes from for our food program.  First, you have to be a Kitsap Poggie Club member. then we will need to submit for a background check (I have the paperwork for that) and we will need to be masked per tribal guidance.  Give me a call or text, or even email me!  If you think your already on the list and I haven't called you, call me, kick me in the butt and I'll get you scheduled.

Chief Poggie Norm

Eitors Note: Volunteers have been coming through at Grovers Creek but there is still much to do as specie change brings the silvers and chum. The season is nearing an end and we have done well with the food bank.

Poggies,
From The Chief Poggie: From The Chief Poggie,
1.   When should we look to start meetings again.  Has the City Parks Dept changed its criteria? Is the vaccination rate high enough? Merck Pharma has developed a new treatment for Covid-19 infections that looks very promising.  It is not a vaccine.  Should we consider it in our planning?

Editor's Question: Would you attend a meeting in January 2022 if it is required for everyone present to wear a mask. That is the indoor protocol at this time. Reply to this email with a simple yes or no.

 The Poggie Traditional Baha Trip:
2021 Poggie Baja Trip Roundup!!!
By Troy Hatler

A small group travelled to Palapas Ventana on the Sea of Cortez in Baja Mexico for the first time in 2 years to enjoy some sun and fun and good fishing. We fished hard for all 4 days in spite of a  power outage and some rain due to Hurricane Pamela skirting Cabo San Lucas 250 miles to the south. This year there were Dorado caught everyday, typically in the 8-15lb range. Bait was plentiful and big. We caught lots of 8-12lb Roosterfish (my boat released 10+ of them on Friday alone!!) which are an absolute blast to catch. While fishing in shallow for Roosterfish, we also caught Cabrilla (bass), Pargo (snapper) and some other assorted tasty treats that often ended up as ceviche appetizers before dinner. The big winner in our Derby was Ty Hatler with a 14.6lb Dorado. This fish took the “”Largest Dorado” and “Largest Fish” awards this year. Congratulations Ty!! Our derby in Baja is a fundraiser to help fund some Mexican students so they can continue their education. We managed to raise $865 toward this cause while we were there--way to go travelling Poggies!! Another highlight of the trip was a ride on the locally world famous Palapas Ventana Hot Dog Train. We had a great time eating crazy Baja Hot Dogs and cruising around the town on the hilarious train. The food was incredible and the staff at Palapas Ventana are the friendliest anywhere. It sure was nice to get back down there after 2 years. Everyone start looking at your calendars for next year… Let's go in October 2022!!!
