Let CHET Highlight your Work with the 'Health Equity Footprint'

The "Health Equity Footprint" is an online catalog intended to raise visibility and collaboration among Northwestern scholars, trainees, students, community members, and other interested stakeholders to help catalyze further work that lifts health for all.
The Center for Health Equity Transformation has collected information from Northwestern faculty to highlight the depth and breadth of their health equity-related work, programming, and research. The hope for the "Health Equity Footprint" is to catalog a plethora of faculty that may help students, trainees, and researchers identify potential mentors and collaborators with shared experiences or research interests.
CHET has created a 10-15 minute survey for those who may be interested in being added to the "Health Equity Footprint" catalog!
Examples of applicable work in research areas of interest:
- Economic Stability (e.g., employment, food security, housing instability)
- Education (e.g., enrollment in higher education, language and literacy, quality of education training)
- Social and Community Context (e.g., civic participation, incarceration, support and norms)
- Health and Health Care (e.g., health literacy, access to primary care, access to health care)
- Neighborhood and Built Environment (e.g., crime/violence, access to healthy foods, environmental conditions)
- Racism and Discrimination (e.g., how these social dynamics factor into any of the above)

The 'Beauty Is Me' Event took place this past Saturday, October 30th, in Bridgeport and was a wonderful success. The sold out event was in celebration of the women of color cancer survivor community and the various non-profit organizations that helped throughout the journey.
Yolonda Ross, actress on 'The Chi', plays the role of Jada, a single mother diagnosed with breast cancer. In playing this role, she wanted to understand the disease, and those who battle it, on a deeper level. Ross was connected with Equal Hope, the Center for Health Equity Transformation and the Tatisa C. Joiner Foundation (TCJF). Each organization is located in Chicago and serves women of color who have breast cancer or are breast cancer survivors.
Yolonda Ross worked closely with the Butterflies, members of TCJF who are breast cancer survivors, and was moved by their stories. In efforts to bring awareness to WOC fighting breast cancer, the 'Beauty Is Me' event came to fruition. At the event, various portraits of the Butterflies, taken by Yolonda Ross, were displayed and Rhonda Feinberg of the Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation, gifted a $100,000 donation split between the three Chicago organizations.
