The Best Practices Guide for Cardiovascular Disease Prevention Programs, initially released in 2017, aims to facilitate the translation of research to practice for state and local health departments when implementing practices for cardiovascular disease (CVD) prevention and management. The guide highlights eight evidence-based strategies for addressing CVD, specifically, heart disease and stroke. This presentation will highlight the current strategies and describe the update process for identifying additional best practices for CVD prevention and management.

Seeking Nominations for CVH Council Leadership Team


The NACDD CVH Team is seeking nominations for persons interested in serving on the CVH Council Leadership Team. The Leadership Team works closely with the NACDD CVH team and CDC to guide the CVH Council in providing effective peer support to CDC grant recipients. Current peer supports include the CVH Area Networks, Evaluation Peer Network and the Off the Cuff newsletter.

The CVH Council Leadership Team is composed of three positions: Past Chair, Chair, and Chair-Elect. As of January 2022, the current Chair, Janna Pastir (ND), will become the Past Chair. Nominations are sought for:
  • Chair, service term is two years (January 2022 – December 2023, including service as Past Chair)
  • Chair-Elect, service term is three years (January 2022 – December 2024, including service as Chair, and Past Chair)
A detailed overview of the Leadership Team qualifications, positions, and responsibilities are available here. You may nominate yourself or a colleague. All nominations must be submitted by Friday, Nov. 19, 2021.

NACDD Is Seeking to Hire an Epidemiologist
 

The National Association of Chronic Disease Directors (NACDD) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our organization as an Epidemiologist to support the Coordinating Center for Public Health Practice (CCPHP) within the organization. The Epidemiologist is a remote position (location based on select states) supporting both Multi-state EHR-based Network for Disease Surveillance and a new project to develop state and local capacity for the collection of hereditary cancer data.
 
This position will lead and coordinate the core functions of CCPHP’s surveillance and informatics projects, including indicator validation and development, quality assurance, data analysis, surveillance system improvement, and reports and products development that support public health surveillance and action. This position will work closely and maintain strong relationships with data contributors (e.g., large data aggregators, Health Information Exchanges); state and local health departments; NACDD consultants; external partners providing technical, governance, indicator, and advanced analytic support partners (e.g., Commonwealth Informatics; Public Health Informatics Institute; Harvard’s Department of Population Medicine; University of Massachusetts Lowell); and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

This is a contractor position focused on managing a community of GIS users from state, local and tribal health organizations. Major activities are centered on supporting, informing, and connecting members of the Chronic Disease GIS Network and promoting their work.
