“Ancient Earth: Humans and Clay” Presentation at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum

BISMARCK, N.D. – “Ancient Earth: Humans and Clay,” a presentation and conversation with Fargo ceramic artist Brad Bachmeier, will be presented at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 7, at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck. The event is free and open to the public.

Bachmeier will discuss the three main themes of the current State Museum exhibit “Ancient Earth: Ceramic Endeavors by Brad Bachmeier”: the global use of clay since the beginning of mankind, ceramics and archaeology, and his artist-in-residency programs in national parks. The presentation will include images of his ceramic work from experiences and projects completed over the past 12 years.

A professor of art education at Minnesota State University Moorhead, Bachmeier has garnered state and national awards including the North Dakota Governor's Award in Arts Education and the national Niche Award in wheel-thrown ceramics. His works are held in regional and national collections.

This program is part of the State Historical Society of North Dakota's Sensational Sundays series. Sensational Sundays are free cultural programs that include a variety of lectures, concerts, movies, and tours.

The North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum is open Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, contact Erik Holland, curator of education, at 701.328.2792. Find a calendar of upcoming State Historical Society events at history.nd.gov/events.
