Rubrics for Teacher and Student Use
(TPA Oriented)


This module will introduce you to rubrics as a means for assessing students. Participants will engage in the study of sample rubrics, develop a rubric, and consider implementation of rubrics for students’ self-assessment. This session may also be of special interest if you are completing CalTPA’s Cycle 2-Assessment-driven Instruction.

Audience:   CTI Induction candidates needing to complete TPA Cycle 2. Coaches are welcome. This session is geared toward the elementary classroom setting.

Mindsets: Shaping Student Beliefs to Increase Engagement and Learning


Research demonstrates that how students think about their own abilities and capacity for growth influences how they approach learning tasks and important features of learning like effort, challenge, failure, and feedback.  In this interactive session you will learn ways to shape students’ beliefs about ability and learning that can increase their motivation and engagement and help them become effective resilient learners.

Mindfulness and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
for Educators (4 Day Event)


This four session in depth course is geared towards educators and will provide participants with research based knowledge and tools for managing stress, balancing emotions, reducing burnout, and enhancing wellbeing. Research demonstrates that mindfulness and SEL practices are effective at addressing a number of issues, including chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and burnout. Participants will learn mindfulness and SEL principles and practices that can be applied in their daily life to enhance work performance, emotional wellbeing and life satisfaction. Many of the practices teachers learn in the course can be adapted to support the Social Emotional Learning and development of their students.

Audience:   All CTI Induction Coaches and Candidates

Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA)
Overviews and Support Hours


This session will provide candidates and coaches with an overview of the Reading Instruction Competence Assessment (RICA), Participants will gain an understanding of the test structure and content, along with productive strategies including a timeline to use for test preparation. Time will also be spent clarifying how this additional credential requirement will align with the Induction experience.

Audience: CTI Induction Coaches and Candidates.

Introduction to the TPA and Induction
Overviews and Support Hours


This session provides candidates and coaches with an overview of the teacher performance assessment (TPA) requirement, including basic information about the CalTPA and edTPA. Attendees will receive clarifying information regarding how to proceed with completing and submitting the TPA within the CTI induction program inquiry structure, including the supports that are in place for candidates and coaches.

Audience: CTI Induction Coaches and Candidates.
