From the Head of School
Dear Gardner families,
Campus is filled with engaged learners, and watching students energized by projects and excited about play (even in the rain!) reminds us of the gift our children receive at Gardner. I have had the opportunity to connect with more community members from the past recently, and I appreciate these opportunities to hear stories from those that created a foundation for us to build upon.
The Gardner School grows and progresses, but by reflecting on the past traditions, like Music Night and Celebration of Learning, we also are reminded what is at the core of our program- community. The response our community has shown to the arrival of vaccinations for children 5 years old and above is a hopeful sign that we will have more opportunities to come together on campus soon. Our mission to cultivate authentic learning through integrated experiences in a supportive community continues, and your families are an important part of the future of the Gardner School, too.
We are entering a season of gratefulness and giving, and I'm excited to share our Giving Tuesday campaign with stories of gratitude soon. I hope you'll consider sharing what you are thankful for at the Gardner School, and we are grateful for every gift given of time, talent, and treasure.
With thanks,

Our PTO is working this month to share gratitude with our teachers, students, and families. We have a teacher luncheon planned for this Thursday, along with a special holiday treat for our staff. Also, parent volunteers created a beautiful display in our lobby for teachers and students to share their Gardner Gratitude on colorful leaves to add to our tree. Look for envelopes coming home soon for your family to share a Gardner Gratitude leaf, too!
The PTO relies on volunteers to make their plans for community connection come to life! Are you interested in helping? The next meeting is Wednesday, December 1st at 9:30 am. We'll be putting together a plan for the school wide breakfast for Pajama Day on Friday, December 17th. Email ptochair@gardnerschool.org for more info on how to help.

Stories from Gardner families about why they're choosing the Covid-19 vaccine
|
|
|
My wife and I always do our research, especially when it comes to our daughter (which is why she is at the Gardner School). We both agree vaccinating ourselves and our daughter is something we can do to show our community we care about each of them.
We are so excited for the release of the COVID vaccine for younger kids. All of us working together to protect our most vulnerable speaks volumes to our values as a community. By looking at the big picture, the role vaccines have played to eradicate and greatly contain many diseases is incredible. Now we are standing at the threshold of the possibility to finally be able to treat diseases we have been baffled by for so long. Thanks to the science behind this vaccine, we may soon be able to successfully treat cancer, prevent HIV, prevent malaria and the list goes on. It is scary and intimidating at times to try new things, but it is the innovators and the courageous who lead the way to something better, only if we are bold enough to trust and help them on their journey.

Community Spotlight
The Judge Family
Matt, Cailin, Henry (5) and Margot (2)
We joined the Gardner School in December of last year. It seemed like a perfect fit for our artsy little scientist and his response, when questioned on our Gardner School tour, sealed the deal. At the end of our tour, Henry was asked if he had any questions. He answered, "Yes! How did you make such a perfect school?" We have never once been disappointed. He has thrived academically in a setting that honors and supports his interests and his constant search for information. In addition, his social and emotional intelligence has grown and been enhanced despite these pandemic times of distancing and masking. Henry's little sister Margot can't wait to be a Tumtum student next school year!

Our students love to play outside in the puddles and run through the wetlands. Now is a great time to check that they still have a full change of clothes, extra socks, and waterproof boots to wear at school. An extra rain jacket or umbrella is a good idea, too.
