#1. Deconstructing the Myths and Prejudice about Fostering

HCI, Sonshine families and AMA Community Center will be hosting an information session on foster families.

This information session is a Question & Answer period for anyone interested in fostering. There are over 50 Muslim children who are eligible for foster families and would greatly impact them in many positive ways.

There’s such a need for this service and perhaps some have even thought about becoming foster parents however, haven’t taken the next step to do. This event will help clarify all of those thoughts and the importance of foster care.

  • Is it acceptable from religious point of view?
  • What are the benefits for the community?
  • What financial support can a foster parent get?

Come meet with the experts at AMA Community Center or join online.

Date: Saturday, November 6

Time: 2:00 PM

#8. Helping Hands

The Helping Hands program is back this Sunday. Firstly, we want to thank the community for their generous contributions!

We must continue to buy food from restaurants for future Helping Hands events due to the ongoing pandemic. Our next event will be this Sunday, November 7.

If you have suggestions or special ties to any restaurant that can sponsor future Helping Hands events, please let us know. You can send your donations by email transfer to: info@amacanada.org ($5 or $10 donations would be greatly appreciated). Please make sure to specify it is for Helping Hands in the e-transfer message.

We also need drivers to deliver the food. Please email us at helpinghands@mymasjid.ca if you can drive the food to a shelter.

Lastly, we need your dua to ensure the program continues to thrive and help the needy in Ottawa.
Best regards,
The AMA Team
