Chilean Cherry Committee Releases Export Quality Standards


In a move that is expected to further increase the quality and consistency of fresh cherries exported from Chile, the Chilean Cherry Committee of the Chilean Fruit Exporters Association (ASOEX) has recently released a “Recommended Quality Guide for Export Cherries.” The guide covers a range of fruit attributes such as size, sweetness and firmness and includes a standardized sizing and color nomenclature for labeling. Cherry industry biosecurity manual

In partnership with Plant Health  Australia and with funding from Hort Innovation, the Australian Cherry Industry has developed the Cherry Growers Biosecurity Manual which outlines the appropriate measures and guidelines that can be implemented within cherry growing businesses to minimise risk of exotic and endemic pests.  Read more

Australian soil carbon startup Loam Bio raises $40 million from venture capitalists


An Australian soil carbon startup has raised $40 million from investors including Silicon Valley tech billionaires.  Loam Bio, formerly Soil Carbon Company, was founded in Orange on the Central Tablelands of New South Wales in 2019.  The company has developed fungal seed applications which could help agricultural crops sequester carbon into the soil.
