IN THIS ISSUE

Aloha Chamber Members,

The COVID pandemic has presented a number of challenges for our state. As we move forward, it’s an opportunity to seek fresh leadership, perspectives and ideas, which is why I have decided to run for Lieutenant Governor of the State of Hawaii.

With the support of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, I plan to continue my service at the Chamber during this time, so that our immediate work to support our small businesses who continue to face challenges, continues. We have a fantastic team, and I have no doubt business and our focus to strengthen our efforts to get Hawaii back on track, will go on seamlessly.

One of the initiatives that continues to grow during this pivotal time is
Hawaii Is Hiring, a one-stop resource to connect Hawaii residents to job opportunities, training programs, career navigation and other important information for job seekers. The website is updated in real time and includes job opportunities available throughout the state. We also continue to work collaboratively with other partners on job fairs and workforce development initiatives.

Laulima & mahalo,

ADVOCATING FOR BUSINESS

As we gear up for the fast-approaching legislative session, we have been circulating surveys to gauge your feedback and input. We ask for your crucial feedback to shape and curate the Chamber’s legislative program on education.

The Chamber’s #4Hawaii Education Committee, in collaboration with
HawaiiKidsCAN, is soliciting business feedback on education issues important to Hawaii as we head into 2022. Some key issues highlight computer science education, Child Labor Laws related to internships and work-based learning, incentives for in-demand credentials, direct grant aid to students, and Board of Education qualifications.

The survey will take 3-5 minutes and we ask that you rank the following six issues in order of importance that you feel the Chamber should proactively drive.

Survey will close on Friday, 11/5 at 5pm (HST).
