Face masks are back, more working at home, since Dutch bring back anti-Covid rules

The Netherlands is bringing in new measures to control coronavirus in a bid to reverse the sharp rise in new cases, and stricter rules are also in the pipeline if there is no progress. Yesterday, on November 2, the new plans were outlined by ministers at a press conference, shortly after officials raised the risk level to ‘severe’ since the average number of hospital admissions per day is above 100.
From November 6, a valid coronavirus pass will be required on cafe terraces, museums, and amateur sports events for people over 18 years, but Sinterklaas processions will be exempt, Rutte said. Furthermore, people are being urged to spend as a minimum half their working week based at home, as well as to avoid rush hour travel. Approximately 12% of new cases of coronavirus can be traced back to work.

Moreover, face masks will also be compulsory in all public buildings and stores, and in railway stations and airports. Students will also be required to wear masks when moving between classes, and also for people working in contact professions. Masks will not be required in places where coronavirus passes are needed.

Speech by the Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven at UN Climate Change Conference COP26

On November 1, Prime Minister Stefan Löfven delivered a speech at the UN Climate Change Conference COP 26, where he remarked:

“The countries that are able must pave the way.
In Sweden, we are presently undergoing a transition to net zero that goes hand in hand with growth, job creation and the rise of a stronger society where no one is left behind.

My message is this: The climate transition is not only possible, it also brings enormous opportunities with it. Opportunities to build better societies. But only so if we ensure that the creation of a sustainable world is a just process, benefitting everyone.”
