FAIRVIEW COLUMNS

OUR WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

HAPPY NOVEMBER

Fairview Family - grace, mercy, and peace to you. We have entered perhaps my favorite month of the year. I'm listening as the wind is stirring the fallen leaves across the sidewalk and acorns are bouncing off the tin roof above me. The temperature outside is just right for a walk in the woods on all of our acreage.

It's more than the weather, however, that I like about November. Thanksgiving has long been one of my favorite days on the calendar, and I especially appreciate what is just before Turkey Day on our church calendar - the Thanksgiving/ Lord's Supper evening service. We'll sing praises to our great God, hear a message on God's enduring love from Psalm 136, and celebrate what Christ has done for us at the Lord's Table. Make plans to be with us for worship that night!

And certainly be with us this Sunday morning! Looking forward to that time with you.
Kenny

Fountain Inn Kid Enrichment
We continue to support a local after school program known as FIKE. We feed the children in that program every Monday at 3 p.m. with a catered meal. Opportunities exist to help serve those meals, assist with homework, and play with the students (some are quite good at basketball!). The leadership at FIKE really wants more church involvement, and I'm considering a monthly devotional/ Bible story time with them. If you would like to be a part of that, let me know

Greeter Teams
Is hospitality a gift of yours? We are starting greeter teams in order to intentionally welcome people into worship and get to know visitors. Would you like to be on a greeter team? If so, email me and try to join us for a meeting on November 14, at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary. Thank you for considering!

Calvary Home for Children
We heard from Calvary Home for Children recently. This is an excellent ministry of foster care, and we heard about some of their needs. An easy way to contribute towards the needs at Calvary Home is through their Amazon Wish List. These foster families have the same needs that you and I do. You can assist by buying paper plates, duct tape, or Kleenex, just to name a few off of that wish list. Please keep this ministry in your prayers.

Book of the Month | Gentle and Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners and Sufferers by Dane Ortlund
Each month I'll use this space to suggest a book to you. November's book is one, that while just published last year, has become a favorite for many Christians. Ortlund reflects on Jesus' words that He is "gentle and lowly in heart." As a gift to you, we have probably 25 copies to give away. You can find this resource in the back of our sanctuary.
