Now that the clocks have gone back and the evenings are drawing in, we're looking forward to some warm and cheering seasonal events over the coming weeks. We start with a new featured artist display of work by Joan Wilkes, which will be showing in our window from next Monday 8th November until the 28th November. Joan works in a variety of media - including printmaking, painting and collage - and still life forms the basis of her work. There's a fascinating interview with Joan in our latest blog, in which she talks about her process, inspirations and choice of medium.

We're also excited to welcome two new guest artistsSusie Hartley and Nick Hebditch. Susie creates sculptures that represent and interpret the human form. Her expressive fragmented figures celebrate the strength and beauty of the female, with twisting, arching and stretching forms that express tension and energy and capture movement in clay. Nick creates work that captures the feeling and emotion of a place, working largely in oil and depicting the interplay between light, land, water and sky. You can see a small selection of their work below but there will be more pieces in the gallery until 10th January so it's well worth a visit to see it in person.

Next week also sees the opening of our gallery winter exhibition. It will feature new work from each of our permanent artists so do come in and have a browse if you can. Images of some of the pieces that will be on show can be seen by scrolling down.

In December we'll be hosting a couple of festive events which we're really excited about. Please see below for details - we very much hope to see you at either or both of them if you're in the area so do pop the dates in your diary!

Our artists also continue to be busy with other events and exhibitions so please take a look at our Out and About section as well to see where you might be able to catch them. And this weekend is the last chance to catch Yolande Beer's stunning display of ceramics in the Chalk window and inside the gallery, as well as the works of our current guest artists Sue Arnold, Kate McMinnies and Alan Taylor.

And finally, a reminder that you can browse the latest original artworks from all our artists 24/7 in our online shop where new work is added every week. Delivery is free on most items anywhere to the UK mainland.

We hope to see you in the gallery soon and look forward to welcoming you to our exhibitions and events.

Best wishes,

The Chalk Gallery Artists
