We're thankful our wonderful patrons and programs!

As we move into the holiday season, remember to stop by the library and put that card to good use!

  • Movies for the kids table to watch?
    A Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving DVD. Check.
  • Need something to listen to during your travels to grandma's for turkey? CloudLibrarys got you covered.
  • Need a fun Friendsgiving activity to meet up at and pass the time?
    Adult craft day. Indie Author Day. Trivia. Done!
  • In-laws coming to stay for a week?
    Well...we can at least recommend some good books to bury you nose in (no one bothers a reader!).

Whatever the case may be, your library offers plenty of options to be holiday ready! Come visit us today!

Tip: We also have baking pans to checkout for those patrons who are baking up a Thanksgiving/Christmas storm and don't want to buy extra pans.

Monthly Calendar

Give back a little to clear off some of your fines!

November 1 - 22, patrons may exchange a non-perishable canned or boxed food item to the library, and get $1.00 worth of fines cleared from their account.

These items will be donated to the Thanksgiving Food Drive that is collected annually at Longview Convention Complex.

- Items must be non-perishable and not expired.
- Items should be Thanksgiving-related. (Corn, green beans, etc.)
- Must be at least 12 ounces.
- Max fines waived cannot exceed $20 and cannot be applied to Interlibrary Loan materials/fees, or overdue collections fees.


Items can be brought to the front desk for review, and then fines will be waived by a supervisor.

Spruce up your seasonal decor and gift game!

Learn to make one of these decorative candy dishes made out of terracotta garden pots.
They make fantastic holiday gifts to give to loved ones and Thanksgiving hosts!

A shoutout to our local Home Depot for donating the garden pots to us!
Ages 18+. Sign-up is required due to limited supplies and space.

Indie Author Day returns!

Join us in-person OR online, for a full day of all things Indie Authors and publishing/writing!

Our author panel includes:

Plus we will have informative workshops from guest presenters Heather Sprague and Laura Nevils.

Here’s what the schedule will look like:

Our panel of guest authors will be setup in the Library for you to come by and visit with in-person. Consider purchasing their books and chatting with them about their work. Save a few questions for the panel though!

We're CLOSED for Turkey Day!

The library will be CLOSED on November 25 & 26 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The outside drop bins will be closed and Curbside Library Pickup will be unavailable.

* Regular weekly children’s programs will also take a break for the entire week (Nov. 22 - 27). 

Welcome back Scholastic Book Fair!

The book fair will be open during regular library business hours, and shuts down 30 minutes before the end of each day (*Note: sale will close early on December 1 at 3:00 PM)!

There will be books, toys, and other fun items for kids of all ages on sale.
Proceeds will benefit the purchase of new youth department books!

So use this opportunity to get some holiday shopping done!

Run, run, run to Story Time as fast as you can!

Don't miss out on the fun we have planned!

The Longview World of Wonder children's museum will bring a special guest to Early Learning Journeys Story Time for us: The Gingerbread Man!

Along with our songs, dances, and crafts, they've got plenty of festive fun planned for the occasion!

Ages 3 - 8, December 1 at 10:30 AM. 
 

Get ready to party with us! And Longview!

Help spread the CHEER and come to our first annual, Library Cheermeister Party!

What is a Cheermeister you ask?
Only the most exemplary, pinnacle, most festive-ist Christmas attitude and spirit there is. Combine that with the spirit of Longview, and you've got a Cheermeister Party!

The party will kick off with songs and a special Story Time performed by Santa Flavious and his magical Elves! 

After Santa, stay for a special performance of "'Twas the Night before Christmas" by Theatre Longview and more Christmas Carols from the East Texas Symphonic Band.

We will also have all your favorite City of Longview departments and Arts!Longview groups attending, with tons of crafts, goodies, games and activity stations for families to participate in.

FREE for all!

December 10, starts at 6:00 PM.
(Please note that library services will be unavailable at this time, but facilities will remain open for restroom use)

• Due to holiday schedules, there will be no computer classes offered for the month's of November and December. Look for their return in January 2022!

• Book Donations are now accepted at this time. Please drop them off at the back loading dock or at the front desk (preferably in a box/plastic bag you don't mind discarding).
For large quantity donations, please call (903) 237-1350 and ask to speak with Leah to discuss arrangements.

• Broughton Branch Library is currently closed for renovations.
Please come to the main branch library for any services, and we'll let you know as soon as it re-opens!
