Emergency Shelter Training
As the days get colder, it's time to prepare ourselves for inclement weather.
When we prepare to volunteer in Emergency Shelters, we are preparing to respond to any disaster that displaces people (and their animals) from their homes. Anything that could cause power to go out could necessitate the need for MRC support in Shelters, including tornados, explosions, attacks on our power grids, etc. This can happen anytime, but because of past experience with winter Ice Storms in the northeast, it's generally the most common season for power outages.
Until we are able to offer in-person training in Sheltering, please begin your training online by going to www.DisasterReady.org and creating an account. Once you have done so, use the search function to locate and take the following short ARC course by name.
Shelter Fundamentals
(Please log all training in your MA Responds profile under the Training tab. This one will be listed as an option in the drop down under DisasterReady.org)
