Oct 31st-Nov 12th Practices for COP26
Daily practices offered through the Plum Village community to support the COP26 UN Climate Conference.
"Nonviolence is not a set of techniques that you can learn with your intellect. Nonviolent action arises from the compassion, lucidity and understanding you have within." — Thích Nhất Hạnh
Dear Friends,
Today is the day to prepare for Global Day. By participating in a day of action we have the opportunity to share our experience, practice harmoniously together and build brotherhood and sisterhood. A very important part of sangha building is to flow with the sangha as one river, and not to behave as a drop of water outside of the river.
Today, we are invited to practice with reading and saying aloud the 'Contemplations on the 5 Mindfulness Trainings' from Marisela Gomez and Valerie Brown followed by 20 minutes of silent sitting.
Alex Nunn, EHC Regional Community Builder and Climate Activist, interviews Sister True D and Brother Spirit about how mindful awareness can give us the energy we need for truly regenerative action.
Indigenous climate activist Txai Suruí says Indigenous peoples are on the front line of the climate emergency, and world leaders at COP26 need to listen to them and take action now — not in 2030 or 2050.

Who we are…
The Plum Village Community of Engaged Buddhism is a global community of mindfulness practitioners who follow the teachings of Venerable Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh (a.k.a. “Thay,” meaning “teacher”). The Earth Holder Community is a branch of the Plum Village tree that applies Thay’s core teachings on engaged Buddhism, mindful living, social and racial justice, and inter-being with Mother Earth at this time of ecological crisis.
Earth Holders’ aim to “bring mindfulness, compassion, healing, and non-violence to protecting ourselves, each other, all beings, and the Earth.”
