National Recycling Week
8-14 November

National Recycling Week is celebrating its 25th anniversary! Brimbank is celebrating by helping residents recycle right. While we can't control everything right now, you can make sure your recyclable items are put to good use. Get to know your recycling, because what you do makes a difference. For more information take a look at Council’s webpage dedicated to recycling. Have you ever wondered what happens to your recycling? Follow the journey of a Brimbank kerbside bin to the Material Recovery Facility in Laverton. This facility sorts our recycling into streams of paper, cardboard, hard plastic, aluminium and glass. Brimbank Delights

Isabella Williams Grassland Reserve

Did you know that within Brimbank many animal and plant species are considered rare, threatened or endangered? In fact, Brimbank is home to 500 indigenous plant species and 196 animal species. This is why areas like the Isabella Williams Grasslands, which are maintained by Council alongside local friends groups, are very important in ensuring our local wildlife is protected.

You can view a video highlighting the wonders of the Isabella Williams Grasslands Reserve here, as well as other "Brimbank Delights" on the Brimbank City Council YouTube page.

Have Your Say

Sydenham Park Master Plan

Sydenham Park is the largest conservation reserve managed by Council. In March 2020 Brimbank Council adopted a Master Plan for public use. As part of the adoption of this plan, it was required that the original plan be reviewed after further investigations into the values of the natural environment, heritage and recreational space.

Some changes have been recommended in light of these investigations, and Council would like to hear your thoughts on the draft addendum to this Master Plan. A key component of the Sydenham Park Master Plan March 2020 was the design of cycling and walking trails to give the public access to the reserve for recreational use. A Shared Use Path is currently proposed to be constructed in 2022.

You can Have your say here where you can find the history of the project, the original Master Plan and the draft addendum.

Consultation closes 5 December

Are you interested in sharing your views about how Brimbank’s public assets like parks and open spaces, community buildings and roads should be maintained now and in the future?

Council is seeking 80 community members to be involved in an Asset Plan Community Working Group that will help Council to develop its first ever 10 Year Asset Plan.

The Asset Plan will focus on three groups of existing public assets:

  • Community buildings and facilities
  • Roads, footpaths and shared paths
Maintaining these assets is an important responsibility of Council and we want to know what’s important to you.
