With school in full swing, here are 5 tips to help kids become better students.
Dear Parents,
As the school year progresses, students will be getting more homework and tests. Not to worry - these tips will help your kids study more effectively.
1. Set a timer
Designating a specific time for studying sets limits and ensures that kids don't dilly-dally. Remember, effective studying shouldn't take hours!
2. Organize supplies
Few things make work more daunting than a messy desk. Ask kids to take a minute to sharpen pencils, organize papers, and clear clutter.
3. Use notes, not the textbook
When preparing for tests, have kids review their class notes first. It's faster to look through key ideas than read through the details of a chunky book.
4. Make fun flashcards
Encourage kids to make creative flashcards out of their notes. They can draw pictures to help them remember certain concepts.
5. Ask them to teach you what they've learned
Teaching a concept to someone else enforces a student's comprehension and gives them a firm grasp of the material.
