Winter's nearly here ... and there's lots to look forward to!

Awaiting opening day!

Schweitzer's getting ready as storms roll in

We can't help but feel giddy - the weather forecast at Schweitzer calls for snow for the next week, and anticipation is high that the resort hits their targeted opening date of Nov. 26. And if that wasn't enough excitement, the new Humbird hotel is now taking reservations for stays this winter (starting in early 2022). The beautiful building is located in the heart of the Schweitzer village, with a new restaurant, Crow's Bench, set to open in mid-December. The best way to keep tabs on how it's looking at Schweitzer is via the webcams - including the incredible panoramic webcam at the summit (check it out during the sunrise and sunset hours - it's pretty cool). And with that ... think snow!

Sandpoint Visitor Guide
Lodging, attractions, more!

This year, shop early

Venues offer unique gifts for all

Early shopping is the name of the game for Christmas 2021, and the Sandpoint area is brimming over with great places to find those perfect presents. The Christmas Craft Fair is coming right up Nov. 20-21 at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, and new this year is the Hope Marketplace Art Co-op - open weekends through Christmas. And of course downtown Sandpoint is a must-visit for shoppers who are looking for unique gifts while enjoying the cozy charm of hometown retailers. The day after Thanksgiving, the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting is a holly, jolly outing for families. View the beautifully decorated tree at Jeff Jones Towne Square, as the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce and the City of Sandpoint partner with the community in hosting this festive event. Free and open to the public.

Theater is back!

Our town's pride and joy, the Panida Theater in downtown Sandpoint, is celebrating the return of events with the lighting of its newly renovated marquee (that's pictured above from last year). The Pend Oreille Arts Council kicked off its 2021-2022 Performing Series in October, and hosts Barrio Manouche - a San Francisco-based acoustic ensemble - in the Panida Theater Nov. 19. Performing a repertoire of original compositions with an emotionally charged sound that is difficult to classify yet instantly recognizable, Barrio Manouche takes their audience on a magical journey.
And another Panida don't-miss event is the the annual post-Thanksgiving concert featuring Sandpoint's Shook Twins (pictured here) is Nov. 20. This one always sells out, so get your tickets early.

Even in November, the outdoors are calling

Hit a nearby trail for a dose of tranquility

Summer and winter get all the attention around here, but the off-seasons have their special moments too. In the quiet of November, with leaves scattered to the wind, take to the trails for an outdoor trek that's all to yourself! Right in town, the Sand Creek Trail next to Bridge Street is an easy out-and-back paved pathway that offers scenic views of downtown Sandpoint. And the nearby Pend d'Oreille Bay Trail is a local treasure that's relatively flat. The trailhead begins just past the Seasons condos, and continues about 1.5 miles along the shores of Lake Pend Oreille - for a total distance of three miles up and back.
