November is National Career Development Month and so we have some resources and advice about ways you can help students explore their major and career options and develop their career readiness.

• Visit the Career Center and speak with a Career Specialist for guidance and resources. Students can connect with us online or on Zoom. Details at https://career.missouri.edu/connect. 
• Enroll in the SSC 2100 Career Explorations class for an in-depth option. This is a one-credit hour course that helps students learn about their interests and develop skills to make informed career decisions. We still have openings in sections 1, 2, and 5.
• Attend a virtual mini career workshop on Exploring Career & Majors offered every weekday at 3:00 pm. This 20-minute session gives students the key information and confidence to get started! 

 

Encourage students to participate in a virtual panel to hear from career services professionals, who are former first-gen students, for ideas on how to use resourcefulness to become career ready during college and beyond. Jumpstart is still actively recruiting students!  Jumpstart is an early childhood program that matches college students with preschool children with limited resources in our local community. Students serve as Jumpstart tutors, building children's language, literacy and social emotional skills to help prepare them for kindergarten. Offered to students as:

Jumpstart Tutors are also AmeriCorps members, which provides a $1,340 award at the end of the school year. Jumpstart requires availability on both Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.  Interested students can email Bethany James for more information!
