It might have been an off-year election with no major public offices up for grabs, but the ballot was still chock-full of hot button issues, like homelessness and more than one controversial development debate. From the winners and losers, we plucked a few noteworthy reactions to the election results from the local Twittersphere:

☀️ I’ve personally been enjoying the dreary weather. It makes me want to drink tea and read a mystery novel. But today will be sunny and 66 as we stretch toward the 70s this weekend.

🌮 Wait, so who’s buying Casa Bonita?
Remember that time the South Park guys made an offer to buy Casa Bonita? Then remember how the Save Casa Bonita superfan group filed an objection to that sale because they wanted to buy Casa Bonita? Well, now they’ve withdrawn that objection, clearing the path for Matt Stone and Trey Parker to officially seal the deal. Andrew Novick, leader of the Save Casa Bonita group, has so far declined to say publicly why he’s abandoned the pursuit. [Westword]

💉 Kids can officially get vaxxed
On Tuesday, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave the official OK for children aged 5-11 to receive Pfizer’s pint-sized COVID-19 vaccine (the shot is only one-third the size of adult doses). Hospitals and other health agencies across the state are stocking up on the kid-version of the vaccine. The state is also setting up clinics inside museums and zoos in an attempt to get children vaccinated. [9News]

🧐 In case you were wondering…
If you pronounce Wynkoop (as in Wynkoop Street downtown) as “win-koop,” you’re saying it wrong. (Don’t worry, me too.) But according to History Colorado, the street is named after Denver pioneer Edward Wanshear Wynkoop, and based on their records, his name was pronounced wine-koop. Apparently though, the brewpub of the same name (Wynkoop Brewing) is “win-koop.” 🤷🏻‍♀️ So there you have it. [CPR]

303 Magazine recently suggested these novels penned by local authors for your fall booklist. “Edge of the Map,” an adventure-packed true expedition tale, by Johanna Garton sounds epic. Horror novel “The Only Good Indians” by Stephen Graham Jones also piques my interest. And “Other People’s Pets,” a classic underdog’s journey, by R.L. Maizes sounds charmingly delightful. If you’ve read any of these and have opinions (but NO SPOILERS, please), I’d love to know. Write me!

👉 Also: I recently chatted with CO-based Peter Heller on the City Cast Denver podcast to unpack his latest Colorado-set novel, “The Guide.” It was awesome. One of my favorite reads in a while.
