What's On Today

Youth and Public Empowerment Day will elevate youth voices and ensure a platform for young climate experts to engage with decision-makers on their pressing priorities. Events will demonstrate the critical role of empowering, educating and training the public in driving climate action to keep 1.5°C alive.

The first day of Nature and Land Use will demonstrate the role that nature can play in supporting countries’ climate plans. Events throughout the day will showcase partnerships to help green the trade in agricultural commodities, reform agricultural policy, take ambitious action on ocean health and resilience, and deliver sustainable innovation.

Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi puts climate change at the heart of educationYoung people will be empowered to take action on the environment as part of new measures designed to put climate change at the heart of education.
Yesterday's major COP26 outcomes include a 190-strong coalition agreeing to phase out coal power and end support for new coal power plants.  Major international banks committed to effectively end all international public financing of new unabated coal power by the end of 2021.
On Energy Day at COP26, former U.S. Vice President Al Gore discussed his Climate Reality Project, which gives grass roots training to climate activists globally. 
COP President Alok Sharma led the COP26 Presidency Press Conference with UNFCCC Executive Secretary Patricia Espinosa. 
Reminder: Please also note that the Blue Zone will be closed on Sunday, 7 November as it is a rest day ahead of the second week of negotiations. The Green Zone will be open as normal.
 
If you are coming to COP26, you need to show proof of a negative COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test taken and reported online on the same day that you plan to attend.

COP26 Regional Roadshows will take place during the fortnight of COP26 across the UK and will mirror themes and events in Glasgow, showcasing and celebrating the work local actors are undertaking on the road to Net Zero.

HRH Princess Eugenie visited the Green Zone, attending WWF’s Walrus From Space event and adding to the Forest of Promises. The President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, attended the Ashden Awards 2021, which celebrates climate pioneers from around the world. Key events included How Sport Can Help Kick Carbon, with Sky Sports led by Sky Sports News presenter Mike Wedderburn.

Highlights tomorrow will include British Antarctic Survey’s Polar Net Zero interactive event and the National Youth Theatre’s ‘On The Edge’ performance. WWF’s Walrus From Space event will have a second feature in the Planetarium.

6 November - Nature and Land Use - Day 2
Events on Nature and Land Use - featured across two days - will demonstrate how governments, businesses, Indigenous Peoples, local communities and farmers are driving the transition towards more sustainable management of our land and ocean by protecting and restoring nature and reforming the food and farming system.
