Dear <<First Name>>,

Long time no see! We wanted to check in with you and give you an update about the next World Table Tennis Day (WTTD), as the first event registrations for April 6, 2022, have been trickling in.

Another year, another chance to be part of the Promoter Initiative

After last year’s successful pilot, we are happy to integrate the Promoter Initiative in the next WTTD. The ITTF Foundation is looking for 25 enthusiastic organisers who want to take their WTTD event to the next level. They are expected to actively promote the spirit of WTTD and Ping Pong Diplomacy in their community. By addressing a local conflict, improving the situation, or bringing divided parties together using table tennis, the Promoters will showcase how our sport can drive positive social change.

The ITTF Foundation will provide guidance, tools, certificate, and financial support (EUR 750.-) for the selected Promoters for their event on April 6, 2022.

Apply to become a World Table Tennis Day Promoter before December 6, 2021, and help us use table tennis to build friendship and create dialogues. With an event of your choice that takes place close to April 6, 2022, you can be the change in your community and help us contribute to the UN SDG 16 through our favourite sport.

Peace on the Table

Are there tensions between diverse groups in your community? Are there some kids in your club who just won’t get along? Are there constant frictions between neighbours in your building? Then listen up: The 2022 WTTD edition focuses on using table tennis for peace-making and conflict transformation.

In line with the biennial celebration of the 50th anniversary of the historical Ping Pong Diplomacy and sparked by the original event in the Japanese city of Nagoya in 1971, WTTD 2022 seeks to create friendships and build bridges between conflicted parties on both, the state and grassroots level. Therefore, the next WTTD focuses on Ping Pong Diplomacy – from states to grassroots level.

What are you waiting for? Rally up your players and club members, get your creative juices flowing for WTTD 2022 and start by registering your event. We look forward to hearing about your ideas!
