CONGRATULATIONS TO THE SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2021 WINNERS
The EuroCham Sustainability Awards recognised companies for their sustainability efforts in the six categories: Green Finance, Smart Mobility (Urban Mobility), Green Consumer, Biodiversity and Agri, Sustainable Workforce. and Judges' Choice. These categories represent strategic areas common to both the European Union (EU) Commission’s European Green Deal and Singapore’s Sustainability Concept Plan.

SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS 2021, 19 NOV

The European Chamber of Commerce, Singapore is pleased to announce that Mr Gan Kim Yong, Minister for Trade and Industry, will grace the occasion at the EuroCham Sustainability Awards 2021 Seminar. The inaugural awards ceremony was held virtually on the 19th of November, 2021 at 5:30 pm SGT/ 10:30 am CET.

Mr Gan Kim Yong joined our Guest-Of-Honour, Her Excellency Iwona Piórko, Ambassador of the European Union to Singapore, Mr Federico Donato, President of the European Chamber of Commerce, Singapore in congratulating the five winners of the EuroCham Sustainability Awards 2021.

CLOSED-DOOR WITH MINISTRY OF TRADE AND INDUSTRY (MTI)
EuroCham had a dialogue with Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Gan Kim Yong during the closed-door session on 19th of November at the Grand Hyatt. It was a chance for our members to engage with Minister Gan for the first time, and have a discussion on topics that are of interest to the European companies in Singapore and the region: 
  • Sustainability, 
  • Digital Economy Partnership Agreement, 
  • Deepening the position of Singapore as a regional hub and the business-friendly support, 
  • Working  towards a COVID-19 Resilient Singapore with open borders and
  • investing in local talent as well as foreign talent to secure economic growth.

XCL AMERICAN ACADEMY - NEW SCHOOL LAUNCH ANNOUNCEMENT
XCL Education is proud to announce the launch of XCL American Academy opening for the August 2022 intake for students aged 2-14!

XCL American Academy is the newest international school in Singapore, offering high-quality, rigorous and accessible American education by focusing on what really matters to our students and parents. Pierre Maria has 15 years of insurance and reinsurance experience in both Finance and Actuarial Science. He worked in FP&A, actuarial modelling, economic valuation and capital management in Paris, Tokyo and Singapore.

Pierre started from a direct global insurer side, notably working on setting up management accounting framework, solvency II implementation, actuarial closing and leading an insurance M&A sell-side.

Since joining Swiss Re, he rapidly became an advisor to the business in transactions as a designated structurer, and he pioneered through leadership on IFRS 17 reinsurance strategy for Swiss Re and its clients as a subject matter expert.

As a Vice President Senior Treasury Officer since 2021, Pierre is managing Swiss Re's balance sheets in Asia. He notably supervises capital topics such as regulatory framework, fungibility and large transaction impacts.

Pierre holds a Master degree in Finance from the Skema Business School and speaks French, English and Japanese.

Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, Asia Pacific

Sanjeev joined Natixis in March 2021 as the Senior Country Manager for Natixis Singapore branch, and the Head of South East and South Asia. Based in Singapore, he is also a member of the APAC Executive Committee. Sanjeev has 25 years’ banking and finance industry experience across New York, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has worked for various firms including Barclays Capital, Citigroup, and RBS.

Prior to joining Natixis, Sanjeev was with MUFG in Singapore, as Asia Pacific (ex-Japan) Head of Sector Coverage and Acquisition Finance. Sanjeev has an MA (Cantab) from Trinity College, Cambridge University, United Kingdom.

Closed-Door Dialogue with Singapore Tourism Board

3 November  - EuroCham and Singapore Tourism Board met in a closed-door round-table discussion at the Singapore premises of Booking.com to seek updates and exchange solutions for the reopening of international air travel, and priorities for tourism/air travel promotion in Singapore and in the EU.

3 November - EuroCham examined the question of how technologies like AI enable great change and how skills intelligence platforms powered by AI can support companies to draw upon the insights to plan and develop their talent strategies especially in the area of skills development and addressing the skills gap and improving business outcomes and boost productivity.
