Last Sunday, Toli shared with us from Mark 13.
Jesus speaks the poetic language of the prophets as he tells of the destruction of the temple and the signs of the end times.
He identifies himself with the Son of Man, a figure from Daniel's prophetic dream. All worship him and are under his authority.
Jesus exhorts his disciples to keep awake and keep watch; to be faithful and stay the course, trusting in Jesus' authority over all things. We join with Julian of Norwich and T. S. Eliot in professing that "All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."

Karly led us in worship, creating our own psalms.

Please pop your name down on the new roster. Opportunities this season include lighting the advent candle, a weekly joke from the kids, and the always needed set-up, pack-up and cleaning.

Blessing the Christmas Tree
|
|
The tree
While the tree is yet untrimmed (but the lights have been strung), recall that:
Just as the tree is an evergreen, God’s love for us is unending and never changes.
The ornaments
As ornaments are placed on the tree you may like to reflect on:
A blessing from this past year.
Where God has helped you to stand like a tree.
The memories this tree brings and how it makes you feel.
The lights
As you turn on the lights you may like to say:
By these lights we honour Jesus Christ who has come to bring light to all people.
Blessing
You may wish to stand before the tree as you pray:
Father bless this tree
which brings beauty and memories
and is a sign of life in this home.
May your blessing of peace be upon all who celebrate the Christmas festival this year and all who gather around this tree.
Keep us safe in our travels, kind in our conversations, and gracious in our giving and receiving.
We wait for Christmas as we wait for Christ to come again,
the days of everlasting justice and of peace.
Amen.
