Hello!

It is beyond exciting to finally be back at in person events - I'm so delighted at the opportunity to see you lovely people and have a good catch up! See below or have a look at the events page of our website  for more details - the first opportunity is THIS FRIDAY!!!

If you'd like to look at some really beautiful, unique Christmas gifts but can't make it to one of our events, our online shop is a lovely place to browse. Although we're working hard to get as many products on our website as we can, it's worth mentioning that our Christmas decorations are currently only available in person. So if you can't make an event but you're local to Watford then you could always pop in for a cuppa and a browse - just let us know when works for you.

It's been so wonderful to enjoy Autumn leaves this month. The colour does me so much good, whether it's glorious in the sunshine, or cheering up the gloomier days. They're also brilliant fun... we've shared a few of our leafy ideas below (including an exclusive new printable resource for creating leaf animals), but do get in touch or tag #madeuniquecic on social media as we'd love to see your photos and hear your ideas too...

Love,

Ruth

Assembling Christmas Craft Kits

We’re donating 250 sets, each with three craft kits and an activity booklet, to those families with more complex needs supported by the wonderful Family Services at OneYMCA. Our team have been working hard to get all the elements together and we’d like to invite you to join us in assembling these kits, ready to give families some festive fun!

We’ll be based in Hazlemere Church so you’ll be able to enjoy the wonderful new Atrium Cafe as part of this event, and we’ll have a range of beautiful, unique products from our beautiful, unique makers for you to shop (both cash and card payment options will be available).

Whether you can pop in for 5 minutes to say hi, or would like to get involved in packing the kits, we’d really love to see you!

Christmas Market and Light Show

We’re excited to be part of this wonderful festive event, starting at 4:00pm with the lighting of the beacon on Watford Museum, and continuing with a giant light show projected across the Wellspring building, AND an indoor Christmas market!

The stalls will include Christmas fair games to play, crafts for children and families to take part in, and a variety of speciality treats, baked goods and handcrafted gifts to give your loved ones. There will be a crepe van onsite, and there will even be free hot chocolate, mulled wine and mince pies!

Made Unique will be hosting the crafting space with some simple but fun activities for grown ups and for kids, and we’ll be representing our talented makers with a stall full of beautiful, unique products.

It would be wonderful to see you and we’re sure you’ll have fun at this brilliant event.

Lots of leafy fun is fairly spontaneous - that's part of it's beauty.... crunching through golden carpets and running into leaf piles... chaotic and hilarious leaf fights... standing underneath a tree in the wind or a branch shaken by a friend as the leaves drift down... or for us the other day it was having small helpers want to join in my leaf raking activities and finding ways to make the job of clearing the garden into something fun and collaborative.

But, of course, there's ways you can enjoy being more intentional in leaf play too. A simple start is collecting leaves and spending time looking at them, observing sizes, colours, shapes and patterns. You could find activities in sorting, arranging, grouping your leaves. And then, of course, there is the craft potential...

Animals are always popular and it's amazing the characters you can create by varying the leaves you use. We've created some
simple templates to get you started, with sections to colour and/or cut out, and pencil outlines for the areas we'd suggest adding leaves. Below you can see what happened when I did the craft my way, using one type of leaf per animal and going for an even arrangement... but the lovely ones who have trialled this craft for me went for a more eclectic mix of leaves and happily stuck them wherever they wanted to and theirs looked brilliant too! Most importantly, we had fun.

And if animals aren't your thing (or like us you collected WAY more leaves than you needed) you can find other lovely leafy possibilities on our Autumn Crafts Pinterest Board... including leaf lanterns a lot classier than our plastic bottle version!
