To stimulate the exchange and foster the collaboration between art and science, PolARTS was launched in 2020 as a joint initiative of the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia and the Swiss Polar Institute. PolARTS supports several artist-scientist tandems, who meet on a regular basis on different sites ranging from laboratories to artistic events, and exchange on their research and other aspects in their professional lives. Join us in this edition of Art x Science Dialogues and hear about the artist-scientist collaborations happening at PolARTS.

AIZI (“Artificial Intelligence Chinese Character”) is a joint research project between Master Type Design at ECAL and Computer Vision Lab at EPFL, which aims to foster a richer type design environment for the Chinese script with the help of artificial intelligence. The third Swiss Education Fair (SEF) China 2021 will take place on Saturday, 4th December 2021 in Guangzhou. The fair is co-organized by Switzerland Global Enterprise & the Swiss Business Hub China. It is supported by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou. Swissnex will represent Swiss public universities at the Education Fair. It aims to help Swiss educational institutions to showcase and promote Swiss schools, and to provide a direct channel for Chinese students and parents to learn about the latest Swiss education system and programs. ➠ Learn more and register

ShadeMe is a Lausanne-based IoT startup and an EPFL spin-off that delivers smart blinds and shading controllers to modern buildings. Swiss Education Pavilion at China Education Expo in Beijing and Shanghai, was held to represent all the Swiss public universities and answer visitors’ questions about studying and living in Switzerland. The onsite exhibitions in Beijing and Shanghai were complemented with a virtual Einstein Day. The Zoom webinar brought together high-level representatives and accomplished alumni of five top Swiss universities to share with Chinese top talents first-hand information about study programs and university choices. ➠ Learn more

  •  Research  Swiss Researchers Among Most Cited in the World - Clarivate recently published its annual "Highly Cited Researchers" list, which recognizes influential researchers from around the world.
  •  Sustainable  Sustainable Laboratories: Recycled Equipment - HES-SO recently created a new platform that aims to promote an institutional space on the collective aspects of access to technical, scientific and educational resources of donated laboratory equipment.

Swiss-Middle East Circular Economy for Youth Initiative

Swissnex at the Swiss Pavilion has launched in March 2021 the Swiss – Middle East Circular Economy for Youth Initiative (SMECEYI).
