This Giving Tuesday we are once again looking for support for our No Scout Left Behind Fund. America needs Scouting now, more than ever. This year #GivingTuesday is November 30th and we’re asking you to rally with us to create maximum impact for the youth and families in most need. The pandemic continues to impact many local families and we want to support them by providing scholarships to join scouting, to go to Camp Decorah, and to buy uniforms for any Scouts in need through the No Scout Left Behind Fund. This is your chance to help create opportunities for youth to gain memorable experiences and become instilled with values, principles, and skills that will help them develop into the future leaders of our nation.

Facebook pays all the processing fees for you, so 100% of your donation goes directly to the Gateway Area Council and will be matching gifts up to first $8 million starting at 7amCT.

In Need: As we restart the Scouting year please remember that the No Scout Left Behind fund is available for requests of financial assistance. This could be to assist with the Scouting membership / registration fee, to help family obtain a gently used uniform, or help a Scout get their handbook or attend a Fall event.

Visit https://www.gatewayscouting.org/assist to make a request.  Requests can come directly from a family or from the unit a family is a part of on their behalf.
The Gateway Scouting Team is adding a few team members and interns to our Scouting team. These are professional entry-level positions which will provide a variety of exciting opportunities to support youth programs in our area and support at Camp Decorah. As a plus – you will develop lots of great skills for yourself! Find the full job posting here:  www.gatewayscouting.org/hiring

Scout Executive Minute

November is a natural month to say THANK YOU.  I hope that you as a Scouting volunteer hear Thank You from the families in your Pack, Troop, or Crew.
If you don’t hear it – please know that many do thank you for all you do for their kids.
From my desk I am thankful for all of these persons:

  • The many parents who support their Scouting youth as volunteers
  • The many Scouting volunteers whose kids are grown and still giving back !
  • The many businesses and individuals who make financial contributions towards Scouting
  • The Charter Organizations who sponsor Scouting units throughout our area
  • The many volunteers who support council projects, serve on the board of directors, and help to impact units through their involvement on the Cub Scout & SBSA District Committee

Thank you for all you do to make Gateway Scouting a great place!

We want to hear from you and see your Scouts in the news! This could be photos in the newspaper of your Scout's Eagle Project, a tv interview about your Pack's pinewood derby, a magazine article about your Troop's winter campout, or a social media blog post about your virtual Merit Badge day. We also will share something your Scout has done outside of Scouting, maybe their team won a state championship, or they were named team captain, or maybe they got recognized for inventing something or solving a community issue.  Share your highlights through out the year HERE.

We also are looking for Scouts who live in Greens Coulee to highlight in the Greens Coulee Life Magazine each month. Email: kevin.corkin@scouting.org

Thank you Pack 91 in Holmen, and Pack 77 in West Salem for sharing photos of your school's Veteran's Day Programs. We appreciate your effort to honor our veterans and promote Scouting in your schools!
