CELL---UH---BRATE GOOD TIMES—COME ON!

Yes, it’s time to Celebrate!

Think back to these last 30 days...maybe you would struggle to label all the ‘times’ so ‘good.’ Surely there were times of struggle, days missed, and falling back into bad habits- for all of us!

There might have been some misses, but what we’re here to CELEBRATE are all of the wins and the ways that you bounced back and kept going.

All of those small successes have contributed to where you are right now... stronger!

WEEK 1 COMMIT:
Your first success was your commitment to the STRONG challenge.

WEEK 2: BELIEVE:
Your second success was rediscovering your self-worth and believing in yourself.

WEEK 3: ACCELERATE:
Your third success was your ability to accelerate through your goals and to continue to put your STRONG skills to work for your body.

WEEK 4: EXPAND:
Your fourth success was the expansion of your definition of what it means to be strong... Including your spirit and your mind.

And here we are with your fifth success.... time to CELEBRATE all you’ve accomplished!

What’s that you say? You have more than just 5 successes? Of course you do!

You’ve crossed many smaller bridges throughout this journey. Personal moments that required self-reflection, redirection, and changing behaviors and mindsets.

You’ve strengthened relationships with your teammates in the STRONG community, and you’ve put one foot in front of the other every day to better yourself.

Don't stop now. Remember your Y Ohana is here for you...whether you choose to be a part of our Y Ohana membership, or connect with us virtually, or simply click on the STRONG Challenge program resources that will always be available for you to keep you on track and motivated!

Congratulations to Our Prize Drawing Winners!

Three lucky staff members got stronger with an extra bonus!

Congratulations to our three STRONG Challenge Program staff members whose names we randomly drew as prize winners! They each won a $200 VISA gift card!

Laura Kauhane who serves as an administrator at our Kaimuki-Waialae and also as a team member at our Service Center said she had not done much in physical activity in a while.

"The Challenge motivated me to walk a bit more and move!"

April Irvin who serves as a lifeguard and swim instructor at our Nu'uanu Y said the Challenge helped her focus on her mental health.

"The Challenge was very encouraging and insightful in the many activities offered to form a healthy mind set instead of just focusing on the physical body. So the meditation and yoga was more of my direction for this Challenge along with journaling. It helped me to stay calm and focused during my first semester of graduate school program where I am majoring in secondary education."

Jon Cho who serves as the 21CCLD Project Director at our Atherton Y overseeing programs at Lincoln Elementary, Stevenson Middle and Roosevelt High School said the STRONG challenge  helped him stay committed to a new and healthier choices.

"The weekly reminders sent helped me to stay active and healthy, which was a nice little booster from some pretty tiring days working out at the schools. The links that they sent were fun to read and the playlists and videos provided were encouraging too! As a staff member, you tend to get so used to explaining what amazing resources the Y offers, that you tend to forget to use it yourself. By taking advantage of the Y's opportunities, I was able to create a routine of healthy habits, helping me to stay active and engaged."

More prizes for more staff members!

Nearly 50 of our staff members who participated in the STRONG Challenge also used our free Challenge Activity Tracker to log their daily and weekly minutes engaged in healthy mind, spirit and body activities. We awarded a $25 gift card prize for a:

Lucky drawing winner among the top 10 on the leaderboard
Janine Sakaki - Mililani Y
"Using the tracker was fun and easy, enjoyed comparing myself and monitoring progress with others on the leaderboard."

Lucky drawing winner among ALL Staff activity trackers
Evelyn Barut - Kalihi Y
"What I like about the Challenge was the different way to track your mind, spirit and body not through just exercising however through journaling, acts of kindness, taking the time and writing down what you are grateful for the week and reflecting about ourselves."
