We are writing first to thank you for the tremendous work you have done to support your scholar in their career pursuits. All of us here at ScholarMatch believe deeply in the power of caring advisors and support from committed volunteers.
Second, we want to make you aware that your student’s scholarship arrangement is undergoing a change. Your student receives support from the Ric & Suzanne Kayne Foundation-Kayne Scholars program which has partnered with ScholarMatch to provide a range of services, including college advising, targeted financial support, and the Career Launch program. The Ric & Suzanne Kayne Foundation has decided to shift its program model and will be partnering with a new organization to support their current scholars. Your student will make the transition from ScholarMatch into the new organization as of January 1, 2022.
So what does this mean for you and your career coaching relationship? We know you have been working to build a strong relationship with your mentee. If you feel comfortable, we encourage you to maintain that connection, although you won’t need to follow the ScholarMatch Career Milestone program nor provide coach reports. Many coaches ask us if they can stay connected with their mentees after the coaching commitment, and we of course always encourage this kind of long-lasting relationship. You also have the option to wrap up your coaching meetings after your scholar has made a successful transition to the new organization. In both cases, it is recommended you discuss openly with your mentee and come to an agreed-upon set of expectations. The Kayne Scholars program values opportunities for scholars to grow their networks and in the transition from college to career, networking is critical.

We will also be in touch for next year when we will have new opportunities for matched coach volunteering.
