Dear Friend of FLOW,

As days in the Great Lakes Basin grow shorter and temperatures drop, we pause to express the deep gratitude we feel for all those who join FLOW in working to keep the Great Lakes public and protected for all

In this season of thanks, I am so very grateful for the volunteers, partners, champions, and supporters who help us to ensure that clean, safe, and affordable water flows for all. Thank you for your helping hands and your hopeful hearts.

For many, a season of giving begins at this time of year as well, and in the spirit of joyful offering, I’d like to share some gifts with you: the inspiring creativity of artists who, like you, love the waters of the Great Lakes and work to protect them.

Writer Anne-Marie Oomen is one of those artists, and she recently looked back at the inception of the FLOW initiative that we call Art Meets Water. Water inspires art, and that art—in the form of poetry, music, paintings, dance, letters, film—drives us to protect the Great Lakes. (Click on the photo to watch the video.)

The lakes, the rivers, and the groundwater inspire artists of every background. The water is what brings us together. I hope you will enjoy some “together time” with friends and family this season, bringing a chance to share or revisit these gifts of inspiration, created for love of water. Check out the menu below of artistic morsels that fill our hearts!

Giving thanks,

Liz Kirkwood, FLOW Executive Director

P.S. Please join us on Wednesday, December 8, at 6 pm EST, for a conversation with author Dave Dempsey introducing his just-updated edition of Great Lakes for Sale. Click here to register.
